Samsung Galaxy XR Headset Launches October 21: The Android Answer to Apple’s Vision Pro

Samsung is officially stepping into Apple’s turf. The company has confirmed that its first AI-powered mixed reality headset, likely called the Galaxy XR, will be revealed on October 21. Codenamed Project Moohan, the device marks Samsung’s return to the immersive tech space, and it’s shaping up to be the Android world’s answer to the Vision Pro.

Launch and Availability

Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy XR on October 21 at 10 p.m. ET (7:30 a.m. IST on October 22 for India).
The global launch event will stream live on the Samsung Newsroom and the official YouTube channel.

In the U.S., pre-reservations are already open, offering a $100 launch credit for early sign-ups. Details on pricing and regional availability will likely be announced during the livestream.

Details and Features

The Galaxy XR will run on Android XR, a new platform co-developed with Google and Qualcomm. Samsung calls it its first “AI-native device”, meaning artificial intelligence is built into the core software rather than added on top.

According to early reports, the headset features dual 4K micro-OLED displays and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR+ Gen 2 chip, optimized for spatial computing. It will also include advanced eye- and hand-tracking sensors for more natural control in mixed reality environments.

This launch signals Samsung’s most serious push into spatial computing since the Gear VR era. By teaming up with Google and Qualcomm, the company isn’t just making another headset; it’s trying to build the Android ecosystem for mixed reality.

With Apple’s Vision Pro already on shelves, the Galaxy XR could be the device that finally brings mainstream competition to the high-end MR market.
