The Galaxy Z Flip has finally launched alongside the S20 series at the Unpacked 2020 event. The South-Korean giant rekindles the foldable format with a different take this time around. While the first-gen Galaxy Fold had a horizontal fold mechanism, the Z Flip folds up vertically. In that sense, it resembles the recent Moto Razr. So, even though Motorola did beat Samsung to the punch, let’s see whether the latter packs some punches too.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Features

Thanks to a bunch of leaks and even an official ad, we have had a fair idea of how the Galaxy Z Flip looks like. It flips and folds vertically, backed by a new ‘hideaway’ hinge mechanic. Samsung claims that the joint is purposed to use the phone at multiple angles (Flex mode) opening up varied use cases.

This main surface is an ‘Infinity Flex’ AMOLED glass panel that measures 6.7-inches and is of 22:9 aspect ratio and 2636 x 1080 resolution. If you’re wondering, there is a noticeable crease in the middle where the bent happens. As for when it folds, the phone’s half the size of a regular full-sized phone which makes it relatively easy to pocket. The cover display is 1.1 inches in size and exhibits essential notifications and can act as a tiny viewfinder too.
