Samsung May Release One UI 8 Alongside Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7

According to a new report by SamMobile, Samsung is gearing up to pack its upcoming foldables with an operating system based on Android 16. The upcoming Galaxy Z models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7, could run on One UI 8 based on Android 16 out of the box.

While this implies that the company must have already begun working on One UI 8 (even though One UI 7’s rollout isn’t complete), it also means that the 2025 Galaxy Z series could be among the first handsets to run on Android 16.

Galaxy Z Fold 7/Flip 7 Release Timeline (Expected)

Although the company hasn’t confirmed a launch timeline for the next generation of foldables, Samsung reveals the devices in July every year. Last year, the company conducted a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024, and the phones became available later that month.

If everything goes well, the company could follow a similar launch timeline this year as well. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could show up in an Unpacked event in July 2025, with general availability following a few days later in the same month (or early August, depending on when the launch event takes place).
