Samsung has announced its latest iteration of foldable devices—the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Galaxy Z Flip6. These foldables come with exciting AI features that will make your daily tasks much easier than before.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 is the elder sibling and the book-style foldable device, succeeding the Galaxy Z Fold5. It is available in three colors: Navy, Silver Shadow, and Pink. The one we have is in the Navy colorway. Let’s take a closer look.

Design

Right off the bat, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is 1.4 mm shorter, 1 mm wider, and 1.3 mm thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold5 when folded. When unfolded, it is 1.4 mm shorter, 2.7 mm wider, and 0.5 mm thinner. The phone tips the scale at 239 grams, which is about 14 grams lighter than the previous generation. The phone is rated IP48 water resistant (no dust resistance).

Samsung says that they have improved the hinge and it’s evident. The Galaxy Z Fold6 shuts completely when folded without leaving a gap. The hinge appears to be slimmer than before. The crease has also been reduced by a noticeable margin.

Samsung is using Armor Aluminum on the Galaxy Z Fold6, plus the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front (cover screen) and the back. The device feels solid in the hand and has the whole premium feel to it.

Display(s)

The cover screen is 0.1 inches larger (diagonally) than the Galaxy Z Fold5, resulting in a 6.3” outer screen that’s a tiny bit wider this time. It’s a 6.3” HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X LTPO (1–120 Hz) screen.

The resolution of the cover screen has been bumped by a few pixels and the brightness has been increased from 1,750 Nits to 2,600 Nits (on the inner screen too), matching that of the Galaxy S24 series.

The inner display is a 7.6” Dynamic AMOLED 2X LTPO (1–120 Hz) screen. The crease appears to have reduced when compared to the last generation but it’s still quite noticeable. The inner screen’s resolution has been bumped from 2176×1812 to 2160×1856.

Now, the cover display isn’t as narrow as before but it still feels narrower compared to the competition like the Vivo X Fold3 Pro or the OnePlus Open. The screen resolution could also have been bumped to 1080p.

Hardware

The Galaxy Z Fold6 has a 1.6x larger vapour cooling system that cools down the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chip inside. The Galaxy Z Fold6 comes in three storage variants, all equipped with 12 GB RAM256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. The phone also supports Ray Tracing for your favourite games.

Battery and Charging

The Galaxy Z Fold6 has a 4,400 mAh dual-cell battery that supports up to 25W fast charging. Samsung claims up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes but we are yet to test that claim. Nevertheless, the phone also supports fast wireless charging at 15W.

Software

The Galaxy Z Fold6 runs on One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14. Samsung has promised to deliver seven years of major OS updates and security updates for this device. One UI 6.1.1 also includes all the new Galaxy AI features.

AI Features

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 brings several Galaxy AI features, too. The AI Interpreter translates conversations in real-time on the device, even working with the Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro.

The Composer feature can generate text like emails, while Suggested Replies offers full sentence options for quick responses. Generative AI includes Draw Assist with S Pen for refining sketches, and Generative Wallpaper for creating unique wallpapers.

Live Effects adds depth to photos, turning them into animated, 3D images. Circle to Search now translates up to three languages at once, powered by Google Lens.

Wallpaper Suggestion helps you set portrait photos perfectly on your lock screen, and Record & Transcribe turns voice notes into transcribed summaries.

Sketch to Image lets you enhance images with AI-generated sketches, and Portrait Studio offers styles like Comic, 3D Cartoon, Sketch, and Watercolor. Auto Zoom ensures everyone fits in the frame during FlexMode, making group photos or even self-portraits effortless.

Cameras

The Galaxy Z Fold6 has a triple-camera setup on the rear which includes a 50 MP f/1.8 wide-angle lens with OIS, a 12 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 10 MP f/1.8 3x telephoto lens with OIS on the rear. There’s also a 10 MP f/2.2 selfie camera and a 4 MP f/1.8 under-display camera on the main screen.

Pricing

The Galaxy Z Fold6 comes in three variants—

  • 12 GB + 256 GB for ₹1,64,999
  • 12 GB + 512 GB for ₹1,76,999
  • 12 GB + 1 TB for ₹2,00,999

That’s a hike of ₹10,000 for the 256 GB and 512 GB variants and a hike of ₹16,000 for the 1 TB variant compared to the Z Fold5.

So that’s all we have to share about the Galaxy Z Fold6. We’ll be posting our full review of the device very soon, so stay tuned for that.
