Samsung Electronics has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold, marking a major leap in foldable design and functionality. The TriFold is Samsung’s first smartphone to feature a triple fold structure, allowing it to unfold twice into a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that delivers both a phone and tablet experience in one device. The company describes it as “the shape of what’s next in mobile innovation.”

The device uses a dual rail Armor FlexHinge system designed for smoother folding and long term durability. It also includes an auto alarm mechanism that gives visual and tactile feedback to prevent incorrect folding.

When folded, the Galaxy Z TriFold measures 159.2 x 75.0 x 12.9 mm and weighs 309 grams. Fully unfolded, it stretches to 159.2 x 214.1 x 3.9 mm, achieving one of the thinnest unfolded profiles ever seen in a foldable device.

Build materials include an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, titanium hinge housing, and a ceramic glass fiber reinforced polymer back. The cover display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for additional scratch and impact resistance. The phone is rated IP48, providing protection against dust and limited water ingress.

The inner 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen runs at a resolution of 2160 x 1584 with 269 ppi, up to 1,600 Nits brightness and a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. A 10 MP front camera sits in a small punch hole on the main display.

The outer 6.5 inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display delivers 2520 x 1080 resolution with 422 ppi, 120 Hz adaptive refresh, and 2,600 Nits peak brightness. It also includes its own 10 MP selfie camera. Both panels come with pre-installed protective films.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z TriFold runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, built on a 3 nm process. It pairs with 16 GB RAM and storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB, with no microSD expansion slot.

The phone ships with Android 16 layered with Samsung’s One UI 8, bringing a range of multitasking upgrades that take advantage of the wide main display. Users can split the primary screen into three full sized portrait apps running side by side for advanced productivity.

A new standalone Samsung DeX mode can be accessed directly from Quick Settings, transforming the TriFold into a desktop style workstation. It supports up to four virtual workspaces, each capable of running up to five apps simultaneously, and is compatible with Bluetooth keyboards and mice.

Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, including Photo Assist and Gemini Live, are deeply integrated into the software. Buyers also receive a bundled six month Google AI Pro trial, including access to Veo3 video generation tools and 2 TB of cloud storage.

The camera system on the rear includes a 200 MP wide angle primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, OIS and 2X in-sensor zoom through the ISOCELL HP2 sensor. Accompanying it is a 12 MP ultra wide lens with f/2.2 aperture and 120° field of view, along with a 10 MP telephoto camera offering f/2.4 aperture, 3X optical zoom and up to 30X digital zoom. The front setup features two identical 10 MP f/2.2 cameras, one on each display for selfies and video calls.

Powering the device is a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery distributed evenly across its foldable panels. It supports 45W wired fast charging that can reach 50 percent in 30 minutes, alongside 15W wireless charging. Connectivity features include 5G, Wi Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.
