TL; DR
- Samsung paused One UI 7 rollout globally due to a Galaxy S24 unlock bug.
- Tipster Ice Universe confirmed Korean users couldn’t unlock devices properly.
- Samsung deleted rollout posts, leaving users in the dark about what’s next.
Samsung has halted the One UI 7 rollout for its devices after identifying a “critical bug” in the stable build for the Galaxy S24 series, as confirmed today by Ice Universe. The pause follows the initial release of One UI 7 on April 7, which started in South Korea and expanded to Europe and North America, with an Asian rollout planned for today.
However, the update seems to have been pulled back or rather paused. Adding to the confusion, Samsung has removed its One UI 7 rollout-related Newsroom posts in Korea, Europe, Vietnam, and the US, leaving users uncertain about the update’s future.

Unlock Bug Identified in Galaxy S24 Series
Tipster Ice Universe first revealed the issue, stating, “After the Korean Galaxy S24 series firmware was pushed, a serious bug was found, which led to the suspension of the push plan in all other countries, including China.” This critical bug, affecting Korean S24 users, has prompted Samsung to suspend the rollout globally.

A follow-up tweet by Ice Universe clarified the bug’s nature: “The reason for the delay in the Galaxy S24 push is that users of the official version of One UI7 of the Korean S24 series found that ‘they could not be unlocked normally in some cases.’ Samsung urgently reviewed the firmware withdrawal in other countries. Have you ever encountered a bug where your Galaxy phone occasionally cannot be unlocked?”

US Newsroom Posts Removed
Samsung has deleted its Newsroom post announcing the One UI 7 rollout, along with related social media content, without providing an explanation. The removal of the posts suggest a potential shift in the rollout schedule or device availability, with no official statement from Samsung yet. Basically, this means yet another delay.

Samsung has made it TOO LATE

One UI 7, based on Android 15, promises a refreshed UI, improved animations, and system enhancements over One UI 6. Samsung began beta testing in December 2024 for the S24 series, but the rollout faced multiple delays, and now has been pulled back due to a “critical bug.”
Critics argue that Samsung has been delaying One UI 7 deliberately to boost the S25 series sales, since (apparently) Samsung has nothing much to offer with the S25 series except One UI 7. That said, the company has also launched budget devices like the Samsung F06 and A06 with One UI 7.
The pause definitely makes a huge impact on Samsung’s software strategy, especially after speculation of skipping One UI 7.1 for a faster One UI 8 release in August, as Ice Universe suggested in March.
