Samsung recently announced a Special Edition of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 in South Korea that has a sleeker design. This is the first time in years that the foldable has received a special slim variant. The regular Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 debuted in June while the special edition was launched in South Korea last week. Now it seems Samsung is planning to make this a regular thing. A recent report by GalaxyClub claims that the brand is working on not one but two variants for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 that will launch in 2025.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 to become a lineup?
A report by GalaxyClub claims that Samsung is working on two models of next-generation foldables, both possibly having Galaxy Z Fold 7 in their name. The codenames for the next Galaxy Z Lineup are-
- B7- Galaxy Z Flip 7
- Q7- Galaxy Z Fold 7
- Q7M- Unknown Galaxy Fold model

It is clear how B7 is being used for Flip foldables and Q7 and Q7M for Fold models. We are still in 2024 so there is no clarity about whether the brand will launch two or three foldables phones in 2025, but it does indicate that Samsung is working on not two but three foldables behind the doors.
The letter ‘M’ in the third Galaxy Fold Variant’s codename confirms that it is shrouded in mystery as of now. To recall, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition had a codename Q6A, not Q6M so the new model that is being worked upon might not be a direct sequel to the first Special Edition as then it would have had codename Q7A.
The new letter ‘M’ can mean quite a few things. It could be that the foldable is being made for the global market in 2025 rather than a limited edition. Since it will be a global edition, this new designation.

Another reason can be that the Q7M model is a completely new take on the Foldable formula as recently there was news about Samsung launching a dual-folding Foldable in 2025. This will be in direct competition with Huawei’s tri-foldable. Click here to read more about it.
Whether it is the first reason or the second, there is still a long way to go before Samsung’s next-generation foldables get launched. This will mostly be in the Summer of 2025 and many developments can take place until then. This information that has surfaced is in a very nascent stage so should be taken with a pinch of salt.
