Recently, a tipster claimed that Samsung could rebrand its Exynos lineup of chipsets to “Dream Chip.” The company has launched many Exynos-branded processors over the years, the latest being the Exynos 2400 unveiled at the 2023 System LSI Tech Day. The flagship chipset has a prime core clocked at 3.1GHz and competes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SoC). There are several other Exynos chipsets, too, that power a wide range of Samsung smartphones, from entry-level models to flagships.
Dream Is The Name For An Internal Project: Samsung
According to a report by Android Authority, the rumor about chipset rebranding is not true. Instead, the mentioned brand name, “Dream,” is an internal project name, confirms Samsung Semiconductor to the publication. This clarifies that the company won’t change the name of its chipsets anytime soon. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility that the company could consider rebranding elsewhere.
It is important to mention that two Exynos 2400 smartphones are already in the works and could come out soon. We are talking about the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24 Plus, which are about to accompany the Galaxy S24 Ultra that will be released in January 2024. Unlike most flagship chipsets on the market, the Exynos 2400 SoC is a 10-core chipset, with the prime core clocked at 3.1GHz, two performance cores at 2.9GHz, three balanced cores at 2.6GHz, and four efficient cores at 1.8GHz.
