TL;DR
  • Samsung is rebranding and expanding its top-tier tech to “Micro RGB.
  •  New sizes range from a massive 115-inch cinema display down to a standard 55-inch.
  • Inorganic, self-emitting LEDs that promise OLED-level blacks without the burn-in risk.

Samsung is preparing a major offensive in the ultra-premium TV market for 2026. In a move that signals the technology is finally maturing, the company announced an expanded lineup of Micro RGB TVs (formerly often grouped under Micro LED) that scales the tech down to a manageable 55 inches for the first time.

For years, Samsung’s self-emitting LED technology was restricted to massive, custom-install sizes like 110 or 146 inches, displays that cost more than most homes. The 2026 lineup changes that dynamic entirely. By offering 55, 65, 75, 85, 100, and 115-inch models, Samsung is positioning Micro RGB not as a tech demo, but as a direct competitor to high-end OLED flagships from LG and Sony.

Why Micro RGB?

The specific branding of Micro RGB emphasizes the technology’s core advantage: distinct, microscopic Red, Green, and Blue LEDs that generate their own light.

  • No Filters: Unlike White OLED (WOLED), there are no color filters to sap brightness.
  • No Backlight: Unlike Mini-LED, there is no blooming or halo effect.
  • The Promise: “Unprecedentedly strong” brightness and color volume that supposedly exceeds the BT.2020 standard.

AI That Actually Watches With You

Samsung is also heavily integrating its new Vision AI Companion. The 2026 models will feature deep integration with Perplexity for real-time answers and a “Generative Wallpaper” mode that uses the Micro RGB pixel precision to blend the TV into your wall texture when not in use.

The Price Question

While Samsung hasn’t revealed pricing, the 55-inch model is the one to watch. If Samsung can bring this technology under the $5,000 mark, it could mark the beginning of the end for the traditional OLED era. We will find out more at CES 2026 in Las Vegas this January.
