The German audio manufacturer Sennheiser has launched closed-back headphones in India: the HD 620S. Coming from the HD 600 series of headphones, the HD 620S ships with 42mm dynamic transducers, 38mm diaphragms, and a 3.5mm stereo plug for input. Unlike the regular open-back headphones in the market, closed-back headphones are designed for audiophiles or professionals who don’t want any sound leakage. In other words, the Sennheiser HD 620S can block any background noise coming into the headphones or any playback sound from leaking outside. That said, here’s everything you should know about the newly launched wired headphones.

Sennheiser HD 620S Specifications And Features

Sennheiser HD 620s launched in India

As mentioned, the HD 620S are designed to keep “listening sessions secluded.” The closed-back design with steel-reinforced ear cup covers ensures a distraction-free listening session. With its 42mm angled transducers, 38mm diaphragms, and ultra-light 150-ohm aluminum voice coil, the headphones produce true-to-life vocals, a wide soundstage, and exceptional details. Sennheiser goes as far as to say that the headphones “will switch your understanding of closed-back headphone sound.”

For those interested in the numbers, the headphone’s bass response range is 20-300Hz, vocal range is 300 to 3000Hz, and treble range is 3000 to 20,000Hz. The sound pressure level, as mentioned by the company, is 110 dB. Like the ear cups, the headband sliders are also steel-reinforced, making the device durable. The ear cups are spacious and feature artificial leather for excellent acoustic isolation. Last but not least, the headphones weigh 670 grams.

In the box, buyers get a 1.8-meter removable cable with a 3.5mm plug (and a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter). With the adapter, the device supports most music players and smartphones. The company also provides a storage pouch. Soon, Sennheiser will unveil a new 4.4mm cable for connecting the headphones with supported devices.

Sennheiser HD 620S Price And Availability

The Sennheiser HD 620S is available at a launch price of Rs. 32,990 (down from the listing price of Rs. 41,990). Those interested can purchase the device from the company’s official website, Amazon or Flipkart.

It is important to understand that the Sennheiser HD 620S is not a product for the mass market, which is also evident in its price and features. The closed-back headphones are for audiophiles, singers, professionals like audio producers, and so on. This is also the reason why they don’t come with modern-day features like ANC, a microphone for hands-free calling, touch-based controls, or Bluetooth connectivity. However, they’ve everything a closed-back headphone should have and improve upon the industry standards.
