Now that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has officially launched, the question on everyone’s mind is whether to go for it now or wait for the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung surprised everyone with an unexpected “One More Thing” at the Unpacked and that was the Galaxy S25 Edge’s teaser.

Looking at the S25 Edge (previously rumored to be the S25 Slim), it’s clear this isn’t aiming to be Samsung’s most premium phone. The Ultra stands tall as Samsung’s ultimate flagship for 2025, while the Edge is rumored to be a sleeker alternative arriving in April-May. Let’s break it all down and help you decide.

Galaxy S25 Ultra vs. Galaxy S25 Edge

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is designed for power users. It packs a massive 5,000 mAh battery, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset (full 8-core version), and a quad-camera setup that excels in photography and video. Add in an S Pen for productivity, and you’ve got a complete flagship package.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge is all about aesthetics and portability. At just 6.4 mm thickness (rumored), it’s one of the slimmest phones. However, its slim design comes with compromises: a reportedly smaller 4,000 mAh battery and a 7-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Thermals that may struggle under heavy usage like gaming or video editing. Cameras are confirmed to be a dual-camera setup. Now, whether Samsung will use an ultra-wide secondary camera or a telephoto is still unconfirmed.

Key Comparisons

  • Performance: The Ultra leads with raw power, while the Edge is slightly less capable.
  • Battery: 5,000 mAh on the Ultra vs. 4,000 mAh on the Edge—a big difference for heavy users.
  • Design: The Edge wins in portability but sacrifices durability and features like the S Pen.
  • Price: The Edge is expected to be priced lower than the Ultra (₹1,29,999) but higher than the Plus (₹99,999). All in all, you can expect the price to be ₹1,09,999.

Ultra Now or Edge Later

1. Choose the Ultra if:

  • You want the best performance, cameras, and battery life.
  • You’re a gamer, heavy multitasker, or someone who uses their phone as a primary device for work or entertainment.
  • You need the S Pen for taking notes. Note that there’s no Bluetooth functionality on the S Pen anymore.

2. Wait for the Edge if:

  • You want a lightweight, slim phone for casual use.
  • You don’t mind a smaller battery or slightly reduced performance.
  • A sleek design is your top priority, and you don’t use your phone for gaming or heavy tasks.

Conclusion

The Galaxy S25 Ultra is Samsung’s no-compromise flagship, designed for those who want the best of the best. It’s a solid investment, especially with its powerful hardware, incredible cameras, and long battery life. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Edge caters to a niche audience—it’s for those who value slimness, aesthetics, and portability over raw power.

The choice comes down to your needs. Do you want the all-rounder that excels in every department, or are you okay with compromises for a lighter, sleeker device? Personally, I’d go with the Ultra—it’s future-proof and ticks every box. But if you’re into stylish, lightweight phones, the Edge might just be worth waiting for.
