Skoda And Volkswagen Recall Cars For A Seatbelt-Related Issue (Second Time This Year)

In a second recall of 2025, Skoda and Volkswagen have recalled a total of 1,821 cars over a seatbelt-related issue. The official recall notes mention two primary issues: a crack in the metal base of the rear seatbelt assembly and installation of incorrect parts in both the rear and front seatbelt assemblies.

Why Are Skoda And Volkswagen Recalling Their Cars?

Although the scale of the recall is significantly smaller than the one issued in May 2025, which affected over 47,000 cars (manufactured between May 2024 and April 2025), this is the second time the automakers have issued a recall advisory for a similar issue.

The last recall notice also stated that the faults could lead to failure of the rear seatbelt assembly, compromising the safety of rear passengers in the event of a collision. However, the latest recall doesn’t clarify the risks associated with the identified faults.

How Many Cars Are Affected?

As mentioned earlier, a total of 1,821 cars are affected by the recently identified rear seatbelt assembly and incorrect parts installation issue (manufactured between December 2021 and May 2025).

Out of these, 860 belong to Skoda’s lineup, including the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kylaq, while 961 belong to Volkswagen, including the Virtus and Taigun. Like other recalls, the automakers should reach out to customers and offer them a free replacement of the faulty parts.
