The Czech automaker Skoda has already teased its upcoming product, Kylaq, a new sub-four meter compact SUV that will rival the likes of Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon. While the vehicle is said to debut next year, a publication seems to have spotted the product-ready model being tested in rainfall.
Skoda Kylaq Design Revealed Via Spy Shots
As seen in the spy shot by Carwale, the compact SUV is covered in a monochrome wrap. Even so, the overall silhouette of the vehicle gives us an idea of its design. On the front, the vehicle could have a projector LED setup that throws white light (with DRLs on top of them), while large, blacked-out alloy wheels dominate the side profile.
The Skoda Kylaq is said to draw heavy inspiration from the Skoda Kushaq, including a boxy bonnet, roof rails, and an electric sunroof. Beyond the exteriors, the vehicle will also share internal elements with some of the company’s existing products.

These include a large infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connectivity, a digital instrument panel, an automatic air conditioner (with rear vents), and a wireless charger. Some additional features on the Kylaq include ADAS and a 360-degree camera.
Skoda Kylaq Powertrain Options
As far as the Skoda Kylaq’s powertrain is concerned, it will feature the same 1.0-liter TSI turbo petrol engine that powers the Kushaq. One of the most peppy engines of the segment, it produces 114 bhp of power and 178 Nm of peak torque.
For those wondering, the engine is mated with a six-speed manual or automatic torque-converter transmission. Given that the company no longer sells diesel engines, there’s no chance that the upcoming compact SUV would come with one.

Skoda Kylaq Indian Launch Timeline
Skoda India has confirmed that Kylaq will debut globally on November 6, 2024. However, Indian customers would have to wait until January 2025 to get their hands on Skoda India 2.5’s first car. The car will enter product next month. The company is targeting a product range of 50,000 to 70,000 units.
Skoda Kylaq Competition
With the Kylaq, Skoda is entering one of the hottest segments of the Indian market: compact SUVs. It will rival some of the most popular vehicles in the country, including the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and the Kia Sonet. However, to crack a significant chunk of the market and turn things around, the company would have to offer the Kylaq at an aggressive pricing.
The baseline variant of the Skoda Kylaq could start from under Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) as part of the introductory pricing. However, this is just a speculation.
