Qualcomm is reportedly working on a new Snapdragon 7 series chipset. It will be an octa-core processor that will power mid-range laptops and 2-in-1 personal computers. The said 7-series SoC will be a successor to the Snapdragon 7c intended to be equip Windows and Chromebook laptops.

The leak comes from the German microblogging site WinFuture who has revealed a model number SC7295 indicating it’s a Snapdragon 7-series chipset. The developer version of the SC7295 chip boasts a maximum clock rate of 2.7GHz, confirms the source. However, the maximum speed is attained by one of the four gold cores used in the architecture. The remaining three cores can go up to 2.4GHz of clock speed.

Qualcomm has employed four more computing cores running at a maximum clock speed of 1.8GHz to handle elementary tasks.

The SC7295 chip is said to be a derivative of the Snapdragon SM7350 a.k.a. Snapdragon 775 chipset which is something Qualcomm is reported to be working on. The SM7350 chip is meant to be used in smartphones and is anticipated to be first ship within Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. However, neither Xiaomi nor Qualcomm has officially confirmed the information.

There are still limited computers running on the union of Qualcomm compute platforms and Windows OS. However, this is the first bit of leaks and we suggest taking them with a grain of salt until any official announcement comes.
