Ever since 2024 began, there have been rumors about Sony working on a Pro version of the PS 5 Gaming Console. Although Sony hasn’t confirmed anything, leaks and rumors surrounding PS 5 Pro have been making rounds for months now. Amidst these rumors, the latest report claims that the PlayStation 5 Pro might be unveiled by late 2024. Earlier there were speculations that PS5 Pro would come in 2025 or it might have been axed, however, the latest one from Insider Gaming claims that it might arrive earlier than expected.

Sony PS 5 Pro Launch Timeline Tipped
The report claims that developers might submit their applications for PS5 Pro to Certification Platforms on the 30th of July. Also, the applications for games launched for PS5 after September 15th will need to support PS5 Pro as well.
Documents that were seen in 2023 suggested that Sony has plans to announce the PS5 Pro around November 2024. Other sources had concerns about its 2024 launch due to factors like a limited number of first-party games and more. However, the latest report by Inside Gaming claims that neither of these concerns is valid.

Sony PS 5 Pro: Expected Features
Though nothing has been confirmed about the Pro version so far, reports claim it will be powered by a powerful GPU and a faster CPU than the vanilla PS5 console. The GPU rendering on the Pro variant is expected to be 45% faster than PS5. PS5 Pro is also said to come with more powerful ray tracing. CPU might be the same but there will be a mode that will offer a higher clock speed of up to 3.85GHz which will be 10 times of PS5. Developers are also said to be working hard behind the scenes on aspects like PS5 development kits. PS5 Pro Testing Kits might be distributed in Spring 2024 if the launch has to take place this year.

The reports also claim that developers will be able to pick between high CPU frequency mode or standard mode for the PS5 Pro. Since nothing has been confirmed thus far, all this information should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, if this news about the late 2024 launch is correct, we will get to hear something concrete about PS5 Pro soon for sure.
