Sony and Marvel have sprung up an early Christmas gift for Spiderman fans in India. The third film in MCU’s Spider-Man franchise, No Way Home will hit Indian theatres one day earlier now, that is on December 16.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has revealed this new release date via its social media channels, without giving any reason for why this is happening. For ardent marvel and spiderman fans, this is great news as their wait will be a day less. And if there are previews, then they might get to see this movie on the evening of December 15 itself.

This would put the audiences in India on the front foot as compared to other countries.

About Spider-Man No Way Home Movie

Tom Holland returns as the titular superhero in Spider-Man: No Way Home along with Zendaya as his girlfriend MJ. Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role of Doctor Strange, who’s now the mentor to Peter Parker (Spiderman).

No Way Home promises to be the biggest MCU film since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. It deals with the multiverse from earlier franchises, with a bunch of returning villains from old Spider-Man movies including Jamie Foxx as Electro (from The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus (Spider-Man 2), William Dafoe as Green Goblin (Spider-Man), Thomas Haden as Sandman (Spider-Man 3) and Rhys Ifans as Lizard (The Amazing Spider-Man) as seen in the trailers.

Rumors are rife that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are returning as well. Fans expect and hope that Maguire and Garfield’s versions of Spideys will themselves come to aid Tom Holland’s Peter, but there is no confirmation of the same yet. If it is indeed true, the makers perhaps wish to keep the surprise for the movie itself.

Garfield on his part has explicitly denied many times that he is in the movie. He jokingly expressed his frustration in a video for GQ in response to a fan query. “Listen, at this point…I’m done. We’ll all find out when the movie comes out and we’ll either be very disappointed or we’ll we be very happy. Or someone will say, “I told you so,” and another person will say, “I told you so.” We’ll all find out. I’m sorry in advance”, he said.

This happens because an arcane ritual performed by Doctor Strange on Peter’s request goes wrong and rips the fabric of the universe open. The reason for the said ritual was because of the fallout of exposure of Peter Parker’s identity in Far from Home’s post-credit scenes.

The movie has been delayed quite a few times due to the ongoing pandemic and has made a strong buzz among the masses.
