After three massive years of anticipation, the biggest Netflix Series Squid Games is finally. The dystopian sci-fi series confirmed the streaming date for its 2nd season and made a special announcement as well last month. Netflix had announced that Season 2 of Squid Game will drop on Netflix on 26th December 2024 and true to its word, season 2 is now streaming online. Also, there will be a third installment of the series which will be its finale and it will start streaming in 2025, which means it won’t be a long wait for season 3 after season 2.
Squid Game Season 2 has seven episodes, all of which are now streaming on Netflix. The length of episodes is between 51 minutes to 1 hour 16 minutes. Episode titles are-
- Episode 1-Bread & Lottery (1 hour 5 minutes)
- Episode 2- Halloween Party (51 minutes)
- Episode 3-001 (1 hour 1 minute)
- Episode 4- Six Legs (1 hour 2 minutes)

Squid Game Season 2 Cast: Who’s returning? Who’s New?

Lee Jung-Jae who’s character is the sole survivor from the first season will make a comeback along with Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo.
Since most of the players died in the first season, new cast members will be joining the show this time. It includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jun-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.
Squid Game Season 2: Teaser
Netflix has shared a small teaser for the series which shows a group of new players competing in a deadly game with red and black-clad workers standing by and observing those who fall to their deaths on the running track. “It’s been three years. Do you want to play again?” the head of the workers asks in the teaser. Watch the teaser below.

Squid Game Season 2: Synopsis

The official synopsis for Squid Game Season 3 reads-
“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddkaji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”
In the letter shared by the creator, he hints at Seong Gi-hun trying to get his revenge in season 2. There will be a fierce clash between him and the frontman that will continue into the series finale with season three launching next year. The creator claims he’s excited to see the end to this story that started three years ago.

Squid Game’s creator Hwang Dong-hyuk writes that it’s been three years since Season One was well received and he is beyond excited to announce the date for Season 2 and share the news of the final season, season 3.
Squid Game Season Two: Early Reviews Out

The show started streaming today at 12 PM IST and the first reviews are already out, most of them being positive.
The Indian Express writes, “Netflix’s biggest series returns, filled with twists but not as fast-paced as season one.”
MSN writes, “This gore fest still hits all the right notes the second time around.”
India Today claims, “Lee-Jung Jae show not just raises the stake but amplifies it.“
News 18 review says, “This impressive Netflix sequel raises the stakes and the Drama.”
Squid Game Season One: Reception & Accolades

The first season is Netflix’s biggest original TV season of all time as it was viewed over 265 million times with a total of 2,205,200,000 hours during the first 91 days on the streaming platform. None of the series has managed to match or cross this number since then.
The show received 14 Emmy award nominations with six wins including Best Director for a Drama Series, best actor for a drama series, and best guest actress for a drama series.
Meanwhile, it seems the team has been shooting for Season 2 and Season 3 simultaneously which explains how season three will drop a few months after season two starts streaming in December 2024.
