Tata Motors announce the most affordable electric car in India: Tiago EV to launch on September 28

Tata Motors has confirmed that the most affordable electric car Tiago will debut in India on September 28. The company has chosen World EV Day to introduce Tiago EV which will sit below the Tigor EV in the brand’s electric vehicle line-up.

Tata Tiago EV: Price & Availability

The Tata Tiago EV has priced at Rs. 9.75 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Xpress-T EV electric sedan. This will be the most affordable EV by any manufacturer in the segment.

Tata Tiago EV: Features

The most ambitious EV is expected to share its EV platform and powertrain with the Tigor EV. The company currently offers 2 powertrain options- one for private buyers and one for XPres-T for fleet operators. The upcoming Tiago EV is an entry-level EV offered on the XPres-T that produced 41hp and 105Nm of torque, and a 21.5kWh battery pack offering 213km of the claimed range. The battery pack can be charged via a 15kW DC fast charger in a claimed 1 hour and 50 minutes.

The Tiago EV is expected to get a more powerful electric motor that will produce 75hp and 170Nm. This motor draws its power from a larger 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers 306km of the claimed range.

In terms of design, it will retain the same design factor as the current ICE-powered Tiago. It is likely to get the cosmetic blue highlights as on the Tigor and Nexon EV. There will be an EV badging on the fenders and tailgate as well.
