In a significant move towards electrification, Tata Motors is gearing up to electrify its lineup with the highly anticipated launch of the Tata Punch EV, likely to be stylized as the Punch.ev. The Indian automotive giant has been steadily progressing on this front, with the electrified model recently spotted camouflaged on multiple occasions as it undergoes rigorous testing on Indian roads. As the official unveiling of this electrifying addition to Tata’s portfolio draws nearer, automotive enthusiasts and eco-conscious consumers are buzzing with excitement.

The latest sighting of the Punch EV on the bustling Mumbai-Pune expressway has only added to the anticipation, offering a glimpse of what the future holds for Tata Motors and the electric vehicle market in India.

Tata Punch EV Spy Shots

According to the latest findings reported by Autocar India, the forthcoming Tata Punch EV test mule was recently observed cruising at nearly 100 kmph on the bustling Mumbai-Pune expressway. During this sighting, a sneak peek into the car’s interior was possible, unveiling a noteworthy feature – an illuminated steering wheel. This distinctive steering wheel design bears a striking resemblance to the one introduced in the Nexon and Nexon EV facelift models. Interestingly, Tata initially showcased this innovative steering wheel concept in its Curvv concept car before integrating it into their production vehicles, starting with the Nexon series.

The Tata Punch EV was seen with a larger infotainment screen, possibly the 10.25-inch version from the new Tata Nexon facelift’s mid-variants. The Punch ICE variant comes with a smaller 7-inch infotainment system, which was also spotted in a test vehicle for the Punch EV. Tata may offer multiple infotainment options to cater to diverse customer preferences.

Features

It’s possible that the 10.25-inch screen and the new steering design may be reserved exclusively for the top variant of the upcoming Tata Punch EV. The availability of a sunroof, however, remains uncertain, given that the ICE version only recently received this option. As a point of reference, the BS6 Tata Punch starts at Rs 6 lakh in India.

The Tata Punch EV is set to feature several design enhancements, including updated LED headlamps and fresh alloy wheel designs. Under the hood, it is expected to be equipped with the same Gen 2 motor found in the Nexon EV, ensuring a reliable and efficient performance. Notably, a noteworthy change for Tata is the placement of the charging port, which will be located at the front of the vehicle. This marks a departure from the previous positioning in Tata EVs, signifying the brand’s commitment to innovation and convenience for electric vehicle owners.

Tata Punch EV Expected Price

In Tata’s lineup, the upcoming Punch EV is positioned to fill the gap between the Tiago EV, which starts at Rs. 8.69 lakh in India, and the Nexon EV. Furthermore, Tata is actively preparing to introduce more high-end electric SUVs, signaling the brand’s commitment to offering a comprehensive range of electric vehicles to cater to diverse consumer preferences and market demands.
