Tecno Pova Curve 5G Review: Design and Build
The design of the Tecno Pova Curve 5G can impress you as soon as you open the box, and the main reason behind it is the bold curve that it has. The entire display curves along both sides, making it look like a flagship smartphone. Finding this kind of design experiment at this price point is a rarity, but Tecno has managed to take this risk and succeeded in it.

The device is just 7.45mm thick and weighs 188.5 grams which makes it one of the lightest and sleekest devices in this segment, that too packed with a 5500mAh battery. The back panel fetaures a matte finish, which offers a premium feel despite being made of plastic. Moreover, it doesn’t attract fingerprints easily, which is also a plus.
Tecno is calling it ‘starship-inspired design’ and since we received the Magic Silver variant, its silver-like texture and curved back justify Tecno’s claim. The company has chosen some interesting color options with this design, as its Cosmic Black, Magic Silver, and Neon Cyan do have the power to stand out in the crowd.
Along with the design, the company has focused on durability as well. The Tecno Pova Curve comes with an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the display. However, you don’t get a pre-applied screen guard on the display, but the back cover is bundled inside the box that matches the color of the device.

The notch at the front includes a selfie camera, and an earpiece at the top that also works as a secondary speaker. The bottom edge houses a dual SIM slot, a Type-C port, a speaker grille, and a primary microphone. The top edge has a secondary microphone and IR Blaster, while the right edge houses a power button and volume rockers. The left edge is completely vacant.
All-in-all, Tecno has paid a lot of attention to the design of the Pova Curve 5G smartphone. It not only looks good, but it feels premium and balanced in hand. For those who consider a smartphone not just a device but a style statement, the Pova Curve 5G is a solid choice.
Tecno Pova Curve 5G Review: Display
Tecno Pova Curve 5G comes with a 6.78-inch FHD+ Curved AMOLED display supporting a 144Hz refresh rate. The display is smooth and works seamlessly while scrolling and app switching. Curved edges make this display even better, especially during content streaming.

Thanks to AMOLED panel, the colors look vibrant with deep blacks for sharp visuals. It supports 1300 nits peak brightness which works fine indoors, but outdoors visibility is very weak. During this monsoon season in India when sunlight is very less, the display is easily legible with no issues.
The display supports 2340Hz PWM dimming which reduces strain on eyes despite hours of usage. Eye Care and Sleep Aid fetaures make it even better. The refresh rate can be switched between 60Hz, 144Hz or Smart Modes, as per your needs.

Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the display keeps it safe during everyday usage.
Four audio, there are dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The speakers are pretty loud and offer a decent expereince while watching videos and gaming.
Tecno Pova Curve 5G Review: Software

Tecno Pova Curve 5G runs Android 15 based HiOS 15 and it offers a clean and smooth interface. The best part is that despite being aggresively priced, bloatware is very less and most of the pre-installed apps can be removed if not needed.
HiOS 15 includes Ella AI assistant which includes features like Circle to Search, AI Eraser 2.0, Voice Typing, and Call Translator. The good thing is that the smart assistant can understand Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali and Marathi.
Tecno has promised one Android update and two security updates, which is slighly disappointing. During our usage, we experirenced some bugs as well like Amazon Pay not working. All-in-all, software is user-friendly and AI features are useful, however long-term support could have been better.
Tecno Pova Curve 5G Review: Performance
Tecno Pova Curve 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chipset, which is based on 4nm process paired with 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. During daily usage, the device offers a decent and smooth experience.
Talking about gaming performance, you can play heavy titles like BGMI smoothly on the Pova Curve 5G smartphone. It works at medium graphic settings with a 90fps frame rate, and HDR Ultra works as well. Mali-G615 GPU handles graphics well. Long gaming sessions do heat up the device a little, but the 11-layer cooling system still manages to keep it under control.
To analyze its performance even better, we ran some benchmark tests too. The Tecno Pova Curve 5G managed to score 6.7 lakh onthe AnTuTu test.

All-in-all, whether it is multitasking or medium consumption, or mid-level gaming, the phone offers a reliable performance in every aspect.
Tecno Pova Curve 5G Review: Cameras

The Tecno Pova Curve 5G features a 64MP Sony IMX682 primary sensor along with a 2MP depth sensor at the back. At the front is a 13MP selfie sensor for selfies and video calls. The camera doesn’t support OIS, but there is EIS and 4K video recording (for front and back cameras), which is a plus at this price point.

During daylight, the camera clicks decent photos which are full of details and showcase natural colors. Sometimes, the colors do look over saturated, but that works in this price segment. In portrait mode, the edge detection is not so good.
Talking about low-light photography, the camera performance does drop in in these conditons as these shots showcase some amount of noise and softness. Using the Night Mode, the shots do look slightly better still there is some amount of noise in them.
Selfie camera also works well in daylight conditions, but its quality drops as soon as the lighting becomes less.
AI Features like AI Eraser 2.0, AIGC Portrait, and Sharpness Plus make photo editing a fun experience, but these feel like filters when applied.
Overall, the camera is average, and you can’t call it perfect, even for this price range. 4K Recording and AI Tools make it tolerable for budget photographers.
Tecno Pova Curve 5G Review: Battery Life and Charging
Tecno Pova Curve 5G’s 5500mAh battery is one of its biggest highlights. Every day usage, including social media, calls, video streaming, and gaming, the battery easily lasts for more than a day. With heavy usage too, the battery easily lasts for an entire day, but you will have to recharge it at the end of the day.
The Pova Curve 5G comes with a 45W fast charger, and the device supports 45W charging speed. With the adapter bundled inside the box, it charges from 0 to 50% in around 30 minutes and for a full charge it takes around 75 minutes. With a price point of 15k, it comes with bypass charging support as well which ensures the device doesn’t heat and battery experiences lesser load when charged during gaming sessions.
In totality, the battery performance is reliable, and the fast charging speed is decent as well.
Review Verdict: Should You Buy the Tecno Pova Curve 5G?
Tecno Pova Curve 5G is one such smartphone that not only impresses you with its design but also delights when used in everyday life. Features like Curved AMOLED display, relaible chipset, massive battery and minimal bloatware with handy AI features, make it a value-packed smartphone for just Rs. 15,999.
The design of the smartphone is premium, and UI is clean which ensures there are no issues during day-to-day usage. Camera is underwhelming and software support is limited as Tecno has promised only one OS update, which does disappoint.
If your focus is style, performance, and a large battery, this Pova Curve 5G smartphone is a solid option for you on a limited budget. However, if you want a better camera setup and long software updates, you can also consider the CMF Phone 2 Pro or the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite.
