The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Tecno has launched a new budget smartphone in India: the Tecno Pova Curve 5G. Priced at Rs. 15,999 for the baseline variant, the handset offers a range of features, including a 3D curved screen, a 64MP primary camera, a 5,500mAh battery, and an official IP rating. It will go on sale in the coming week via an e-commerce platform and offline channels. Here’s everything you need to know about the handset.

Tecno says that the Curve 5G has a starship-inspired design, with a punch-hole screen and curved display on the front and a pill-shaped camera cutout on the back. The handset is available in three colors: Neon Cyan, Magic Silver, and Geek Black.

While the frame and back panel are likely made of plastic, the front screen features a Gorilla Glass 5 coating for protection against scratches. Lastly, the phone features an official IP64 dust and water resistance rating. It is worth pointing out that the phone maintains a slim side profile (7.45 mm).

Chipset

Under the hood, the Pova Curve 5G features the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate (4nm) chipset, which boasts up to 2.5 GHz performance cores, a Mali-G615 MC2 GPU (up to 90 fps on PUBG, likely applicable to BGMI as well), up to 8GB of RAM (virtually extendable up to 16GB using the phone’s storage), and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

Out of the box, the phone runs on HiOS 15 based on Android 15. However, when it comes to software support, the Tecno smartphone shies away from what the competition offers. For reference, the similarly-priced Galaxy A16 5G offers six years of Android updates.

Nonetheless, the Pova Curve 5G also offers Ella AI, Tecno’s voice assistant, which offers several AI Voiceprint Noise Suppression, AI Auto Answer for calls, AI Call Assistant, and multilingual support. Another feature called the Intelligent Signal Hub System enables seamless connectivity in areas with low cellular reception. The phone also provides access to Google’s Circle to Search visual lookup feature.
