Google Pixel 7 Pro has been spotted on benchmarking portals a few times now. The latest one shows that the upcoming Tensor G2 chip that will be powering both Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, will get a CPU and GPU boost. Here’s more about the story.

Google Pixel 7’ Tensor G2 Chip Will Bring Major Improvements

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will be powered by the upcoming Tensor G2 chip manufactured by Samsung and will be a successor to the T1 chip seen in the Pixel 6 series last year.

According to the latest benchmarks hinted by tipster Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter, the Tensor G2 chip will bring major improvements in terms of CPU and GPU performance. To put it into numbers, the Tensor T2 SoC reportedly scored 1,068 and 3,149-points on single-core and multi-core tests respectively.  We expect the T2 to have a next-gen update over T1 unlike the iPhone 14 and iPhone 13’s A15 SoC. Moving on, the chipset has a model number S5P9865 that was glanced at in reports a few days ago as well.

According to the reports, the chipset will carry the same core arrangements i.e. two Cortex-X1 cores, two Cortex-A76 cores, and four Cortex-A55 cores just like the T1 chipset. However, the difference is that the T2 chip will bring in a 10% increase in multi-core performance compared to its predecessor.

Samsung is currently on its way to working on the said Tensor G2 chip (unless Google ends up calling it something else) alongside its Exynos 1380 SoC that could be seen in future Samsung devices.

Anyways, both the Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are all set to launch on October 6 at 10AM as announced by Google itself. Since we are just two weeks away from the launch, Google might confirm a few more specs before dropping the series officially.
