A couple of days ago, we reported that Samsung is considering making an affordable Galaxy Z Fold 6 version. This would help the company regain some of the lost market share with Chinese brands like Huawei and OnePlus. The report also mentions that the phone could compromise on flagship-tier performance. Now, another key development related to the Galaxy Z Fold 6 “FE” has surfaced online.

No S-Pen For Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE

According to the latest ETNews report, Samsung won’t include S-Pen support in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE. The current iteration, i.e., Fold 5, supports S-Pen. For this, the company has to spend slightly extra on the phone’s screen (including a digitizer). However, dropping the S-Pen support will help Samsung reduce the manufacturing costs for the affordable foldable. For those catching, the latest Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Z Fold 5 support S-Pen.

Will This Affect The Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE’s Sales?

Samsung doesn’t provide the S-Pen with the Z Fold 5 in the box. However, the phone still supports inputs and other pointer features via the stylus. Those interested have to get the stylus and foldable case separately. Given that the phone doesn’t come with an in-built S-Pen, unlike the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the absence of the Z Fold 6’s affordable version might not disappoint the user.

The Affordable Version Could Do Away With Several Flagship-Tier Specifications

However, S-Pen isn’t the only feature the upcoming foldable could do away with. The phone might come with low-quality screens, thicker bezels than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, mid-range cameras, and slower storage memory. Another main component that the company could cut costs on is the processor. Until now, the Z Fold and Z Flip series have featured top-tier Snapdragon processors. We might be looking at a Dimensity or a mid-tier chipset for the coming handset.

Recently, a tipster leaked some renders of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The renders suggest a broader cover and primary screen on the top-tier Z Fold 6. Further, the phone could have a better camera setup and a new chipset. However, that is the extent of information on the upcoming foldable.
