Toyota India has recently broadened its vehicle lineup by introducing the all-new sub-compact crossover, dubbed the Urban Cruiser Taisor. This latest addition, stemming from the Toyota-Suzuki collaboration, brings a fresh dynamic to the market. Drawing inspiration from the Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover, the Urban Cruiser Taisor boasts distinctive styling elements, setting it apart from its Suzuki counterpart.

Notably, this marks Toyota’s fourth model derived from Suzuki, joining the ranks of the Glanza (based on the Baleno), Rumion (based on the Ertiga), and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder (a mechanical twin of the Grand Vitara, developed jointly with Suzuki). The Urban Cruiser Taisor is competitively priced, ranging from Rs 7.73 lakh to 13.03 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).

Bookings for the highly anticipated Urban Cruiser Taisor officially kickstarted today, on April 3, 2024. Prospective buyers can secure their spot for this exciting crossover with a booking amount of Rs. 11,000. Deliveries are slated to commence from May 2024, promising eager customers the chance to experience this innovative vehicle firsthand.

Urban Cruiser Taisor Design

With a distinctive design, the Urban Cruiser Taisor sets itself apart from the crowd. At the forefront is a fresh honeycomb-style grille, featuring a striking chrome strip that intersects the iconic Toyota badge. Departing from the tri-LED arrangement seen on the Fronx, the Taisor showcases revised LED daytime running lights split into two elements. Complementing its unique aesthetic are distinct alloy wheels, while at the rear, it maintains the connected tail-light setup reminiscent of its Maruti counterpart.

Within its interior, the Taisor mirrors the layout of the Fronx, offering familiarity and functionality. An expansive 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage, equipped with seamless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Elevating the driving experience are coveted features such as wireless phone charging, a convenient head-up display, and a comprehensive 360-degree camera system.

Additionally, drivers can enjoy the convenience of cruise control and connected car technology, enhancing connectivity on the go. Ensuring comfort for all occupants, the Taisor boasts a height-adjustable driver’s seat and rear AC vents. Prioritizing safety, the vehicle is equipped with six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), and hill hold assist, providing peace of mind on every journey.

Powertrain

Powering the Urban Cruiser Taisor are engine options identical to those found in the Fronx. The lineup includes the 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-series petrol engine, delivering 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of torque, with its CNG counterpart producing 76.44 bhp and 98.5 Nm of torque. For those seeking enhanced performance, the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol mill is available, generating 98.6 bhp and 147.6 Nm of torque.

Transmission choices vary depending on the engine selected: a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated manual (AMT) accompanies the 1.2-liter motor, while the 1.0-liter engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Notably, the CNG variant exclusively offers a 5-speed manual transmission.
