On Monday, Truecaller India announced the launch of AI-powered call recording in India. The feature is available on both Android and iOS platforms. “The new addition provides users with the ability to record incoming and outgoing calls directly within the Truecaller app,” writes the company in its official press release. However, the advanced cloud-based recording feature isn’t for everyone.

AI Call Recording And Transcription

With the integration of AI, Truecaller’s new call recording feature not only records audio calls but also allows users to create a detailed transcription of the entire phone call, along with an AI-generated call summary. However, the call recording feature will be available as part of the company’s Premium plan, which costs Rs. 75 per month in India.

How To Record Calls On Truecaller For Android?

On Android, users can record audio calls through a button in the Truecaller dialer. If users aren’t using the app for attending calls, they’ll see a floating call recording button while on a call. Once the call ends, the app will inform users when the transcript is ready. In the app, users will be able to listen to the recordings and manage them.

Recording Calls On iPhone Isn’t As Simple

On iPhones, however, recording calls via Truecaller isn’t that straightforward.

  1. First, users should answer an incoming call on their iPhone.
  2. Then they should head over to the Truecaller app, and in the Search tab, look for the “Record a call” option and tap on it.
  3. Doing this will connect users to the special recording line the app provides.
  4. Once connected, users can merge the two lines to start recording the ongoing conversation.
  5. Once the recording is ready, users will get a push notification on their iPhones.

Further, iOS users can also back up their recordings on iCloud. From what it looks like, Truecaller connects iPhone users to a recordable Android line and then provides users with the recording. However, this is a mere speculation, as the app hasn’t specified the device to which the provided line connects.

Like Android, users can manage these recordings through the dedicated section in the app. Further, Truecaller currently supports transcriptions in English and Hindi.
