Udaipur Files, the movie which was supposed to release on July 11, faced a stay when a case was filed against it. Starring Vijay Raaz, this movie is based on Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal, and after a long legal battle, the Delhi High Court finally cleared its way for to release. The court dismissed the appeal filed by Mohammed Javed, one of the accused in the case, against the order approving certification of the film.
Udaipur Files Gets Release Date
The movie finally gets released today (aka 8 August) in theatres. A bench of Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela passed the order that the petitioner failed to establish a prima facie case in his favour.
The bench said, “Producer has already spent life earnings in the film, and if the movie is not released, the balance of convenience will be disturbed. Once a film has been certified by the Board and trial is not likely to be affected by exhibition, we find ourselves unable to agree to a prayer for staying the release of the movie.”

Udaipur Files: About the Film
The story is about the real murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur. Ishwar Singh, an Intelligence officer, investigates the case. He finds possible links to radical groups. His wife, Anjana Singh, a journalist, faces problems reporting the case.

The cast includes Vijay Raaz, Rajneesh Duggal, Preeti Jhangiani, Kamlesh Sawant, Kanchi Singh, and Mushtaq Khan. It is directed by Bharat S Shrinate and produced by Reliance Entertainment.

Udaipur Files: Will the Movie Affect the Trial?
While allowing the movie release, the high court said that the screening of the film will not affect the case. The trial will be conducted by a judge uninfluenced by outside interests, as a trained judge. He has failed to establish how irreparable loss will be caused to him if release is not stayed. Prayer for staying release is hereby rejected.
Senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia, who represented a film producer posted on X, “Big Victory. A major win from the Honorable High Court in the Udaipur Files case! My powerful team. The court refused to impose a ban on the film’s release. A victory for truth, a victory for freedom of expression.”

The movie is likely to stream on the Zee5 OTT Platform after its theatrical release.
