August was a busy months for smartphone enthusiasts, especially due to Google’s Pixel 11 series. September is going to be same, except for a different company: Apple. It’s not like only the Cupertino giant is holding an event this year, but the harsh reality is companies mostly don’t want their launches to clash with an Apple event. Anyway, we’re looking at three new iPhones in September (and no, the baseline iPhone 18 might not be a part of it).

That said, we also have several launches from other brands in the entry-level and mid-range segment, including models like the Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G+, the Galaxy S26 FE, and Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, among others. While its going to be a pretty tough month for people dealing with embargoes, interested buyers should also keep a tabs on the upcoming smartphone launches in India (September 2026). Without any further ado, let’s get started.

Upcoming Smartphone Launches In India (September 2026): Confirmed Models

Samsung Galaxy S26 FE

  • Launch Date: Global Unpacked event set for August 27, 2026 | India launch expected soon after
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: Exynos 2500, 3nm process, 10-core CPU
  • Display: 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X, FHD+ (2340×1080), 120Hz, up to 1,900 nits
  • RAM/Storage: 8GB RAM; 128GB and 256GB variants
  • Cameras: 50MP primary + 12MP ultrawide + 8MP telephoto rear
  • Battery: 4,900 mAh + 45W wired + 15W wireless charging
  • Software: Android 17-based One UI 9.0; 7 years of OS and security updates
  • Expected price: ₹65,990
Galaxy S25 FE

Samsung’s global Unpacked event is just two days away, and that’s when the company could unveil the Galaxy S26 FE. The India launch date isn’t locked yet, but rumored suggest it could take place on September 4, 2026. Not much is changing, though, especially when compared to the outgoing Galaxy S25 FE. It will all come down to the price. If Samsung places this phone well, it could be a great option for someone not willing to spend a hefty amount on the Galaxy S26.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro 5G+

  • Launch Date: September 4, 2026, 12 PM IST | Flipkart, Infinix India
Tech Specs
  • Display: 6.76-inch FHD+ punch-hole display, 144Hz refresh rate, 7.85mm body
  • Unique: Interactive Active Matrix Cube (AMC) rear lighting, a mini dot-matrix panel
  • Colors: Thermo Orange (temperature-responsive finish), Mirage Green (glow-in-the-dark leather), Silk Glow Purple (motion-reactive texture), Dive Blue (matte)
  • Storage: 128GB with 6GB or 8GB RAM, and a 256GB top variant
  • Battery: Between 5,600 mAh and 6,000 mAh + 45W wired charging + 10W reverse wired
  • Expected price: ₹19,999–₹27,990 (estimates vary widely)

Oddly enough, the Note 70 Pro 5G+ is the only phone in this list that has a confirmed launch date. Infinix has confirmed quite a lot of things ahead of the launch, including the 144Hz display, the unique designs of the rear panel (with an LED panel). The chipset and camera details are still under wraps, though the phone could still debut with the Dimensity 7100 chipset and a 50MP primary camera. I personally have mixed feelings about this one. However, if the features are implemented well, this could be one of the most interesting entry-level launches of the month.

Upcoming Smartphone Launches In India (September 2026): Expected & Rumored Launches

POCO F9 Pro & POCO F9 Ultra

  • Launch Date: Global launch confirmed for September 1, 2026, 8 PM CST | India date not yet announced
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on both models
  • Display: F9 Pro: 6.59-inch OLED, up to 185Hz; F9 Ultra: 6.85-inch to 6.9-inch AMOLED, up to 185Hz
  • RAM/Storage: Up to 16GB RAM; up to 512GB storage
  • Cameras: F9 Pro: 50MP OIS primary + 8MP ultrawide + 50MP 3x telephoto; F9 Ultra: 50MP 5x periscope telephoto
  • Battery: F9 Pro: ~6,330 mAh; F9 Ultra: ~8,050 mAh; 100W wired charging standard
  • Expected price: F9 Pro from ~€799 (~₹75,000); F9 Ultra from ~€999 (~₹94,000) globally

POCO also has a launch date, but it’s for the global reveal of the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra and not the Indian launch. Even so, going by past F-series releases, I’d expect India to follow within a couple of weeks of the global date, and there’s a good chance that the phone goes official in the country in September 2026. Another interesting (or disappointing) detail is that the Indian version could get a battery cut compared to the global unit. Let’s see how the launch pans out.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro & iPhone 18 Pro Max

  • Expected Launch: September 9, 2026 (event); India retail expected September 18, 2026
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: A20 Pro, built on TSMC’s 2nm process, with Apple’s C2 modem
  • Camera: Variable-aperture main sensor, brighter telephoto, new 24MP front camera
  • Design: Smaller Dynamic Island; carried over horizontal camera bar on the back
  • Battery: Pro Max tipped for up to 5,500 mAh depending on market
  • Expected India price: iPhone 18 Pro from ~₹1,39,900; iPhone 18 Pro Max from ~₹1,54,900
iPhone 17 Pro hands-on

This year, Apple could host a September event without the moniker-holder: the baseline “iPhone 18.” So, the iPhone 18 launch event would instead feature the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable iPhone ever: the iPhone Ultra. All the leaks and rumors point to September 9, 2026, as the potential event date. Invites should go out soon as well.

Post the launch, the smartphones should go on pre-order in a couple of days. General availability might begin on September 18, 2026. Expect all the iPhones to be more expensive than the outgoing versions, especially the foldable iPhone. Apple will also release the stable iOS 27 build on the same day.

Redmi Note 17 Pro & Redmi Note 17 Pro Max

  • Expected Launch: Global launch on August 27, 2026 | Indian launch reportedly on September 15, 2026
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: Note 17 Pr: Snapdragon 6s Gen 4; Note 17 Pro Max: Snapdragon 6 Gen 5
  • Display: 6.8-inch OLED, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Battery: Note 17 Pro: 9,000 Ah + 67W; Note 17 Pro Max: 10,000 mAh + 100W
  • Cameras: 50MP main rear
  • Price note: Expected to cost ₹5,000–₹8,000 more than the Redmi Note 15 Pro series

The September 15 date is based on our own exclusive story. Meanwhile, I’m concerned about the pricing. Redmi’s Note Pro lineup built its reputation staying under ₹25,000 for years, being the most value-for-money pick available in the Indian market. However, an ₹8,000 jump pushes the Note 17 Pro Max into a bracket where it’s suddenly up against the OnePlus Nord 6 (review) and Vivo V70 FE.

Vivo V80 Lite 5G

  • Expected Launch: Confirmed for Malaysia on September 3, 2026 | India date not yet announced
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Battery: Up to 10,000 mAh (some variants with smaller as well)
  • Software: Android 16
  • Cameras: 50MP primary with AI scene recognition + 32MP front with AI portrat tools
  • RAM: 6GB and 8GB variants tipped
  • Malaysia price: RM 1,699 (roughly ₹35,999, for reference only)

Only a Malaysia date is confirmed so far; an India launch isn’t officially annnounced. The 10,000mAh battery figure is doing all the talking here, if Vivo can fit that in without the phone feeling like a brick, and price it sensibly, this becomes an easy pick for anyone tired of charging daily.

iQOO 15

iQOO 16

  • Expected Launch: September 2026 for the Chinese market
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro
  • Display: 6.85-inch to 6.89-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED, 165Hz–185Hz (sources differ)
  • Camera: Triple 50MP rear setup including a periscope telephoto; 50MP front
  • Battery: Reports range from 7,500 mAh to 8,500 mAh, with 100W-plus charging
  • Expected price: ~₹74,990

iQOO and OnePlus share a parent company, and their launch timelines have historically tracked together, so the same October-shift uncertainty hanging over the OnePlus 16 arguably applies here too. Worth watching, but don’t count on it for September.

Vivo X500 Series

  • Expected Launch: September 2026 for the Chinese market
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Camera: New Zeiss Super Dynamic main camera using a 50MP Sony-developed Guangyu 900 sensor; Pro Max tipped to inherit the 200MP periscope telephoto from the X300 Ultra.
  • Video: 4K 240fps slow-motion, 4K 120fps HDR, 3-degree optical stabilization.
  • Lineup: X500, X500 Pro, X500 Pro Max (X500 Ultra and X500e also rumored).

Vivo has only confirmed a China launch for the X500 series in September 2026, via its own executives on Weibo. The global rollout, including India, isn’t expected until later this year, in November or December at the earliest.

Xiaomi 18 Pro & Xiaomi 18 Fold

  • Expected Launch: September 2026 in China; India availability unclear
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: Xring O3, Xiaomi’s in-house 3nm silicon, which the brand claims outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5
  • Xiaomi 18 Fold: Short, wide book-style form factor, similar in proportion to the Galaxy Z Fold 8
  • Xiaomi 18 Pro: Larger AI-powered rear display tipped, alongside Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in some variants

Xiaomi has confirmed a name and a September China window, with pre-orders already open there. Whether either phone officially retails in India this generation is a separate question, Xiaomi’s numbered flagship series has had a spotty India presence the last couple of years, and I wouldn’t rely on either device reaching Indian shelves in September even if China goes exactly to plan.

OPPO K15

  • Expected Launch: Rumored for Q3 2026 (July–September); no confirmed date
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Super
  • Display: 6.67-inch AMOLED, 120Hz
  • Battery: 7,500 mAh graphite battery + 100W fast charging
  • Software: On-device AI tools including AI Unblur and AI Eraser
  • Expected price: ~₹37,999
Oppo K14x 5G Launched in India: Price, Availability, and Full Specifications Inside

Already out in China, the standard K15 has been tipped for an India Q3 window for months without OPPO confirming anything concrete. With that window closing, September is the most plausible month left if it’s coming this quarter at all.

Samsung Galaxy A08

  • Expected Launch: September–October 2026 (no confirmed date)
Tech Specs (Rumored)
  • Chipset: MediaTek G100 or Dimensity 7400, depending on the source
  • Display: 6.67-inch to 6.72-inch HD+ display, 90Hz
  • Battery: 5,500 mAh–6,000 mAh
  • Expected price: Under ₹15,000

Sitting on the GSMA IMEI database alongside a Galaxy A18 4G sibling. Samsung tends to be flexible with entry-level launch timing, so this could easily slip past September.
