TL;DR

  • Out of all the other specifications, the most interesting part is one where the car will run on solar energy.
  • Additional features of the Vayve Eva include fast charging (50 km of range on a 5-minute charge) and OTA updates for the infotainment system.

India’s only solar electric car company, Vayve Mobility, is gearing up to unveil its first solar-powered car at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Pune-based company already showed a pre-production model of the vehicle at the expo in 2023. Now, two years later, it is returning with a model that nears production standards.

Vayve Eva Could Provide 8 KM Of Solar Range Every Day

Out of all the other specifications, the most interesting part is one where the car will run on solar energy. While it will still feature a battery pack that can provide up to 250 km of range on a single charge, the solar-charging capability will add another 3,000 km every year, or slightly over 8 km every day.

When it comes to running costs, Vayve Eva claims to provide an exceptionally affordable commute solution. At just Rs. 0.50 per kilometer, the vehicle has one of the most economical running costs of all. However, whether this has been calculated based on the electric-only range or takes into account the range extension through solar power is something that we need to figure out.

Vayve Eva: Additional Features

Additional features of the Vayve Eva include fast charging (50 km of range on a 5-minute charge), OTA updates for the infotainment system and other car-related features, and smartphone integration (possibly via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay). Owners should also be able to monitor their car’s status or anything that needs attention on the connected smartphone app.

Stating findings in its internal survey, the company states that urban commuters travel an average of about 35 km every day with less than two passengers in the car. Vayve Eva, in its native form, tries to cater to an audience that needs a more economical solution for commuting to and from their workplace. It can carry two adult passengers and a child.

The car could also be a suitable city commuter, providing a lower running cost than regular electric cars (as the range added by solar energy should reduce the cost even further).

Vayve Eva: Expected Price
