Tech giant vivo always aims to offer a decent photography experience with its V-Series smartphones. In 2025, the company introduced the next generation of V-Series phones in February with the vivo V50 5G. Today, it has added one more to the V50 family with the debut of the vivo V50e 5G smartphone in India.
Compared to the vivo V50, this one is more affordable but still focuses on camera performance, featuring a 50MP primary sensor and a 50MP auto-focus selfie camera. The company has announced the vivo V50e 5G with a starting price of ₹28,999. It comes with HDR10+ support, 1800 nits peak brightness, an AMOLED display, 90W fast charging, and a range of AI-powered features.
The vivo V50e will take on rivals like the Nothing Phone 3a and the newly launched Moto Edge 60 Fusion in India. The big question now is whether the V50e can carve out a spot in this already crowded segment. Let’s find out in our vivo V50e 5G review.

vivo V50e 5G Review: Unboxing
The vivo V50e comes in a big black-colored box with the phone’s name printed in bold letters. As soon as you open the box, you’ll see the device right away. We received the V50e in the Sapphire Blue variant, which features a marble finish on the back. While the device looks good, I’m not very fond of this shade. If you too don’t like this dark shade, you can opt for the Pearl White version of the vivo V50e 5G.
Apart from the handset, you get a Type-A to Type-C charging cable, 90W adapter, warranty card, quick guide, SIM ejector, and a TPU cover inside the box.
vivo V50e 5G Review: Design and Build

When held in hand, the vivo V50e 5G feels sleek and lightweight. Its curved edges also make it comfortable to hold. Considering the price, the V50e seems like a good deal. With its sleek camera module and marble finish, vivo has tried to give the phone a premium touch.
The device has a glossy look, but thanks to the marble texture, the back panel doesn’t attract smudges or fingerprints easily. It looks like glass from the back but is actually made of polycarbonate, which doesn’t feel like typical plastic.
The vivo V50e is just 7.61 mm thick and weighs 186 grams. Even in such a sleek body, it packs a large 5600 mAh battery. However, note that this thickness doesn’t include the camera bump on the V50e 5G.
The rear panel of the phone features a slightly larger cylindrical camera module with a prominent blue ring that houses the camera sensors. These sensors are protected by a glass covering. Below the ring sits the vivo Aura Light, positioned beneath the camera module. The vivo branding is placed at the bottom.

The right edge of the vivo V50e houses the volume rockers and power button, while the left edge is empty. The bottom edge includes the SIM tray slot, Type-C port, microphone, and speaker grille, whereas the top edge features an IR blaster and a secondary microphone.
All in all, the vivo V50e features a decent design considering its price point and feels good in the hand. Moreover, it is IP68 and IP69 rated for protection against water and dust. Still, we’d advise using the device with a protective cover, as it might slip from the hand. The color options are also quite limited and more variety would have been better.
vivo V50e 5G Review: Display

The vivo V50e flaunts a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and HDR10+ support. vivo claims a peak brightness of 1800 nits for the device. There are three color profiles available: Standard, Bright, and Professional, that can be used to adjust the tone of the visuals.
Talking about the colors, since it’s an AMOLED panel, you get great contrast to begin with. There are three color profiles, with the Professional mode showing the most accurate colors to my eyes. The white color feels slightly warm, which is acceptable.
However, most people would use the default ‘Standard’ color profile, where white feels mixed with blue, and colors appear boosted. Both modes are good, and it entirely depends on the user’s preference. I personally used the ‘Professional’ profile most of the time because I prefer natural and accurate tones, which are more soothing for the eyes.

The display supports HDR/HDR10+, making streaming on apps like Netflix and YouTube even more immersive. I used HDR on YouTube, and the videos had noticeably better color and contrast.
vivo claims a peak brightness of 1800 nits for the display. I tested it alongside the Pixel 9 Pro outside under afternoon sunlight, and it offered excellent brightness, with the screen being clearly legible. The display is a quad-curved one with slim bezels, and there’s a small punch-hole cutout at the top.
Overall, the vivo V50e provides a premium and seamless viewing experience, whether you’re gaming, streaming on social media, or handling other tasks.
vivo V50e 5G Review: Software

The vivo V50e runs Android 15-based Funtouch OS out of the box. The software initially looks smart and fresh, with a colorful and easy-to-use interface. However, there are several pre-installed apps on the device. Apps like LinkedIn, Snapchat, Facebook, PhonePe, and Netflix are pre-installed, and while they can be uninstalled, it does impact the otherwise clean UI experience. Some apps like the vAppStore and the vivo Browser cannot be uninstalled or even disabled.
Aside from that, the vivo V50e offers a range of AI options. AI Eraser 2.0 enhances photos effortlessly, while AI Image Expander can enlarge your photo from the corners. Circle to Search lets you search for anything on the internet from anywhere on your device, including songs and translating your screen.
There are also some special features for calling, such as Live Call Translation, which translates calls to your local language in real-time, and AI Screen Translation, which translates text on the screen into any of your preferred languages.
All in all, the vivo V50e 5G offers a good software experience. The AI tools enhance the experience, and vivo promises 3 OS updates and 4 years of security updates, ensuring the device will be updated until 2029. While the bloatware could have been reduced, it’s understandable at this price point, and you can delete most the apps you don’t want.
vivo V50e 5G Review: Performance

The vivo V50e 5G is powered by the Dimensity 7300 chipset. This SoC also powers phones like the realme 14 Pro, OPPO F29 Pro, and iQOO Z9s. While some of these are priced lower than the V50e, they don’t match its fast charging or camera capabilities. The chipset is paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage.
Talking about performance, it works seamlessly while handling all daily tasks. I used it for WhatsApp messaging, video calling, social media scrolling, YouTube streaming, calling, and more; there was no lag even while multitasking. However, it’s not ideal for heavy gaming. While it performs smoothly on medium graphics and low frame rates, extended gaming sessions lead to frame rate drops.
I tried playing BGMI on this one with Ultra HDR graphics and a high frame rate, and the experience was decent. COD Mobile ran slightly better in comparison. I also ran some benchmark tests, you can check out the results below.

vivo V50e 5G Review: Cameras
The vivo V50e 5G sports a dual-camera setup at the back, featuring a Sony IMX882 primary sensor with OIS for capturing sharp images. It also includes an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. On the front, there’s a 50MP selfie camera with eye auto-focus.
The primary sensor of the vivo V50e captures impressive photographs in daylight. The samples below show that the sensor retains extensive detail and delivers natural, vibrant colors. The dynamic range is solid as well. However, under harsh sunlight, the output tends to shift slightly.

When there’s good natural light, the results are impressive. However, it does struggle with highlights in extreme sunlight. This became evident when we compared its camera samples with those of the Nothing Phone 3a. In harsh lighting, the vivo V50e tends to wash out the background, while the Phone 3a handles exposure more effectively. You can check out the difference yourself in the samples below.

Ultrawide camera
The vivo V50e also sports an 8MP ultrawide sensor. Most of the time, the performance of the ultrawide sensor isn’t that impressive in mid-range devices, but it is not the case with V50e. In good daylight, it captures good ultrawide shots.
The camera samples below are proof that they have been captured with a good amount of detail. It has captured the shadow of trees well too. In comparison to the primary camera, it has slightly different colors, but this doesn’t necessarily make the images worse.

While the ultrawide sensor delivers decent results, there’s no dedicated telephoto lens on the vivo V50e. However, it does offer 2X in-sensor zoom in the Portrait mode, which performs quite well. It locks focus on the subject quickly and adds a natural blur to the background. On zooming in, you might notice minor edge detection issues, but nothing too distracting.
Low-light performance
The vivo V50e does a decent job with low-light photography. The primary sensor captures good images even at night or in low-light conditions. While it struggles a bit compared to daylight shots, the results are still solid.

Front camera
The vivo V50e comes with a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, which is quite rare in this price range. The selfies taken with this sensor show impressive detailing, capturing even the smallest features like individual hair strands. The skin tones are rendered naturally, with no heavy beautification or unnatural color changes.
The portrait mode also works well, effectively blurring the background to keep the focus on the subject. For added fun, there are various filters available for selfies, such as Fresh, Festival, Texture, Wedding, and 1980s. Among them, I particularly liked the Festival and Fresh filters the most.
vivo V50e 5G Review: Battery Life and Charging

The vivo V50e 5G packs a large 5,600 mAh battery that gives a good backup. After a full day of photography, gaming, chatting, video calling, content streaming, benchmarking testing, and more, it still had some charge remaining.
Adding to this battery backup is the ultra-fast charging speed it supports. The vivo V50e 5G is the only phone in the mid-range segment to come when 90W wired charging. It takes around 50 minutes to charge the battery from 0 to 100%.
Compared to other phones in the segment, it stands out with one of the largest batteries and super-fast charging. The charging adapter is also included in the box.
Review Verdict: Should You Buy the vivo V50e 5G?
The vivo V50e 5G falls in the ₹30,000 segment with features like a 50MP selfie camera, stylish design, and a large battery, making it special. The phone also has a bright AMOLED display, a reliable chipset, and a 90W charging speed, making it a lucrative package for users.
However, if one wants heavy gaming or super powerful performance, there are other phones in the segment with a more powerful SoC. However, you won’t find this kind of camera or fast charging in those devices. All in all, the vivo V50e is for those who value design, battery, charging, cameras, and usability when buying a new smartphone.
