TL; DR
- The vivo X200 Pro and X200 Pro mini will feature the new Sony LYT-818 sensor (1/1.28 inches), which is smaller but more advanced than previous models—better reading, more efficient, better noise reduction, and real-time HDR preview.
- The highlight is a 200 mm ZEISS APO “telephoto” zoom, although the actual zoom focal length could be 100 mm.
- vivo says that the videos on the X200 series will be better than the photos.
We are just 3 days away from the launch of the vivo X200 series, and the company has started dropping some interesting teasers. The latest teaser is on the cameras of this series, as that is going to be a major highlight.
Sony LYT-818 main sensor
The vivo X200 Pro and the X200 Pro mini will feature a new Sony LYT-818 sensor, developed in collaboration with Blueprint. Despite being smaller at 1/1.28 inches, vivo claims it surpasses previous models, like the X100 Pro and X90 Pro with 1-inch sensors.

The sensor’s 22-nanometer process is more efficient, and it also allows for real-time HDR preview. It boasts impressive specs like a 0.95 e-signal-to-noise ratio for better noise reduction and an 86 dB dynamic HDR range per frame.
200 mm ZEISS APO “Telephoto” Zoom
The standout feature is the 200 mm ZEISS APO “telephoto” zoom, which vivo has highlighted in a video, showing remarkable zoom performance at 30x magnification. While the actual focal length could be around 100 mm (4.3x optical zoom), it might digitally crop to 200 mm and still be crisp and detailed.

The ZEISS APO technology uses an apochromatic correction lens to minimize chromatic aberrations, improving image clarity and reducing color fringing. This zoom lens also supports tele-macro shots, as seen on the previous models.
Finally, better videos
vivo is also focusing on improving video quality this time, claiming that the videos using the LYT-818 will surpass the capabilities of a 1-inch sensor, which is a big leap considering their past video performance.
In essence, vivo is pushing the boundaries of both photo and video performance with the X200 Pro. The 200 MP zoom lens is what I’m genuinely excited for. The flagship lineup, powered by the Dimensity 9400, will be unveiled on October 14. What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below.
