The vivo X200 Ultra, set to launch on April 10 in China, could be a game-changer for both smartphone photography and videography. With its consistent camera hardware across all lenses and top-tier video capabilities, it’s being hailed as a potential leader in the field. However, with no global release confirmed, its impact might remain limited to China for now, leaving enthusiasts outside the region eagerly awaiting the X300 Pro in 2026.

Unmatched Camera Consistency

The vivo X200 Ultra boasts a triple-camera system designed for uniformity: a 50MP Sony LYT-818 (1/1.28-inch, 14mm, OIS, f/1.69) ultra-wide, a 50MP Sony LYT-818 (1/1.28-inch, 35mm, OIS, f/1.69) main camera, and a 200MP Samsung HP9 (1/1.4-inch, 85mm, OIS, f/2.27) periscope telephoto.

This setup ensures quality consistency across focal lengths, a rarity in smartphones. The ultra-wide lens, using the same LYT-818 sensor as the main cameras in the X200 Pro (23mm) and X200 Ultra (35mm), could be the best ultra-wide hardware to date, on a smartphone.

This blows the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 48MP ultra-wide (1/2.55-inch, 13mm, f/2.2) out of the water—1/2.55-inch vs. a massive sensor, f/2.2 vs. f/1.69, and to top it off, OIS. And not just any OIS, it’s rumored to use 5-axis OIS. This will lead to better light capture, sharper details, and way less noise in low light.

The 200MP periscope is said to pack a larger sensor and a brighter f/2.27 aperture (vs. last year’s f/2.67), leaving the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 5X in the dust. It’s not just better—it’s a massive difference. The 1/1.4-inch sensor with that aperture is the biggest in the industry, making this the best periscope zoom on any smartphone.

Add in all the massive sensors, wide apertures, 5-axis stabilization, and 4K 120 fps across all lenses—plus 4K 10-bit log video on every lens—and the vivo X200 Ultra is easily the best camera phone for videography.

A recent video shared by a vivo executive on Weibo showcased the ultra-wide’s stabilization outperforming the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Not just that, the video quality also looks way superior on the vivo X200 Ultra. We’ll have to wait and see how vivo optimizes the other lenses though.

For photos, it’s not even a debate. vivo has been outclassing iPhones in photography for years, and the iPhone isn’t even close.

vivo X200 Ultra Might Remain China-Exclusive Afterall

Despite its prowess, the X200 Ultra might not be released globally, making it exclusive to China. Your only option would be importing the X200 Ultra if you like outside of China. Rumors suggest the X300 Ultra might launch globally in 2026, potentially bringing these advancements to a wider audience. What are your thoughts on this?
