TL; DR
- Digital Chat Station says vivo is testing a dedicated 10X telephoto camera for the upcoming X500 Ultra.
- The entire X500 series is expected to support new external teleconverter accessories.
vivo could be taking a different approach with the X500 series. According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the company is currently testing a dedicated 10X telephoto camera for the vivo X500 Ultra. The leak suggests vivo is splitting responsibilities across the lineup instead of giving every model the same camera philosophy.
X500 Ultra Could Become vivo’s Longest-Zoom Flagship Yet

The X500 Ultra is reportedly receiving dedicated engineering work around a built-in 10X optical zoom camera. No details about the sensor, aperture, or focal length have surfaced yet, but a native 10X solution would give the phone significantly more reach than the current generation.
At the same time, the entire X500 series is said to support new teleconverter accessories that attach to the phone, giving users additional zoom options beyond the built-in camera hardware.

Different Roles for Different X500 Models
Recent leaks suggest the vivo X500 Pro could use a 64MP 1/2-inch 3X periscope camera. That’s a noticeable downgrade from the larger 200MP periscope hardware used in current high-end vivo flagships and even falls in line with the 64MP 1/2-inch periscope rumored for the OPPO Find X10.
The X500 Pro Max, meanwhile, is expected to use a high-resolution 200MP periscope camera and continue serving as the more balanced photography-focused model in the lineup.
