vivo took the smartphone world by storm when it launched its online-first Z-Series two months ago. The Z1Pro was immensely popular and was quite admired for the flawless gaming experience it delivered. vivo is now back with the second iteration in the series, the Z1x, that improves on the Z1Pro in several ways and takes the game to a whole new level.

Powered by class-leading Snapdragon 712 AIE chipset, the vivo Z1x has a refined design, adds a massive battery with faster charging, includes a gorgeous Super AMOLED display, and brings in a massive camera upgrade. Do these hardware specifications convert to a proportional impact on the user experience? Let’s find out.

vivo Z1x has every gaming need covered!

True to its legacy, the Z1x is an excellent phone for gaming. It’s powered by a 10nm process based Octa-core Snapdragon 712 chipset, which has customized Kryo 360 cores clocked up to 2.3GHz and Adreno 616 GPU handling graphics. This is the best Snapdragon chipset that you can score in this budget, one that offers 10% performance and graphics boost when compared to the last generation Snapdragon 710. The Z1x further benefits from ample RAM (starts at 6GB) and storage (up to 128GB) at its disposal.

On the software side of the equation, the Funtouch OS 9.1 has Ultra Game mode with Multi-Turbo enhancements that improve the mobile gaming experience by many folds. The software suite includes network acceleration, gratifying 4D gaming vibrations, avoids interruptions and optimizes RAM and other system resources to favor gaming. In graphic intensive games such as PUBG, the temperature on the surface is reduced to make the experience more enjoyable.

vivo has also remarkably improved the design of the phone. With 2.5D shape and a significantly thinner (8.31mm) body, the Z1x is extremely comfortable to grip and hold, and that helps during extended gaming sessions. In India, the vivo Z1x will be available in two attractive colors – Phantom Purple and Fusion Blue.

In spite of the slim profile, Vivo has still managed to accommodate a beefy 4500mAh battery with super-fast 22.5W vivo FlashCharge to quickly top-up the lost juice. The long-lasting battery lets users peacefully indulge in gaming to their heart’s content. In fact, if you are feeling generous you may use the spare reserve on the Z1x to reverse charge other gadgets via OTG.

And of course, the gaming experience would be incomplete without a befitting display to complement all that raw processing power. The Z1x has a sharp 6.38-inch Super AMOLED Halo FullView™ screen with an immersive 90% screen-to-body ratio. Since this is a well-calibrated Super AMOLED panel, colors are punchy without going overboard and the blacks are awesome.

The touch is extremely responsive and it’s a pleasure to run games or consume multimedia content on the Z1x. The use of Super AMOLED screen entitles the phone to a few more perks like Always-On display and a swanky In-Display Fingerprint Sensor.

An effortlessly amazing camera system!

The amazing and versatile camera system further uplifts the Z1x experience. On the back, the 48MP AI Triple Rear Camera takes the lead. The IMX582 sensor captures astonishing details and wide dynamic range in both proper outdoor settings and in low indoor lighting.

For capturing dark scenes, the camera app has an AI Super Night mode that can shoot at multiple exposures and combine those shots into one well-lit image with stunning clarity. The software is smart enough to eliminate handshakes while taking long exposure shots and you won’t need a tripod to stabilize the phone while using the AI Super Night mode.

The second 8MP sensor has 120-degrees wide-angle lens and can be used to capture wide landscapes. The third 2MP sensor is deftly used to capture depth information that’s then used to embellish the portrait mode. Indeed the vivo Z1x can accurately detect the edges of the subject and the portrait shots show beautiful bokeh.

The front 32MP camera has several modes such as AI Face Beauty, lighting, AR Stickers, AI Filter, etc., which makes the selfie-taking experience enjoyable and fun.

Designed for the youth!

That’s quite a lot to like. The vivo Z1x sets new industry benchmarks for the mid-range phones and will be particularly appealing to young Indians who have demanding usage and prioritize cameras on their phones. The more time we spent with the Z1x, the more we could appreciate the thought and effort vivo has put in to make the Z1x stand out.
