vivo’s X300 Ultra lands in India with a massive 200MP zoom and a ₹1,59,999 price tag

vivo has officially brought its “Ultra” flagship to India. The vivo X300 Ultra isn’t just another smartphone; it’s a high-end camera rig that happens to make phone calls. With a starting price of ₹1,59,999, vivo is positioning this device directly against the heavyweights from Apple and Samsung, betting big on its partnership with German optics legend ZEISS.

Camera System: ZEISS Triple Prime Lenses Take Center Stage

The X300 Ultra’s standout feature is its triple-camera array, designed to deliver consistent optical performance across three prime focal lengths — 14mm, 35mm, and 85mm. Each lens is paired with a dedicated sensor and optical image stabilization (OIS).

The 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera employs a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 818 sensor measuring 1/1.28 inches, supporting CIPA 6.0 stabilization and 4K video recording at 120 frames per second.

A 35mm “documentary camera,” intended for street photography and portraiture, utilizes a 200-megapixel Sony LYTIA 901 sensor — the largest in the system at 1/1.12 inches — with CIPA 6.5 stabilization and 12-bit HDR capabilities.

The 85mm APO telephoto camera, certified to ZEISS APO standards to minimize chromatic aberration, incorporates a 200-megapixel sensor on a 1/1.4-inch format. vivo has equipped this module with a three-degree gimbal-like OIS system rated at CIPA 7.0, designed for long-range and action photography.

The camera software incorporates a 60 fps autofocus tracking snapshot mode, using subject recognition algorithms to maintain focus on fast-moving subjects such as athletes or wildlife.

For video, the X300 Ultra supports multi-focal 4K recording at 120 fps in 10-bit Log color, Dolby Vision, and slow-motion capture. A new Pro Video Mode introduces manual controls for exposure, focus, and tone. Audio is handled by a quad-microphone system with intelligent noise reduction. vivo has also introduced a new color science engine utilizing a 5-megapixel multi-spectral sensor with 12 color channels to analyze ambient light and improve color accuracy.

Hardware and Performance

The vivo X300 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform, fabricated on a 3nm process, paired with vivo’s proprietary Pro Imaging Chip VS1+ to handle intensive computational photography tasks. Thermal output is managed by a large liquid-cooled vapor chamber.

A 6,600 mAh battery provides power, supported by 100W wired fast charging and 40W wireless charging. The handset features a 6.82-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display (3168 x 1440 pixels) with a 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ certification, and ZEISS Master Color calibration intended to make the screen a precise camera viewfinder. Protection comes from Armor Glass.

The phone runs on OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, featuring Origin Island notifications and customizable multitasking tools. It carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance. The device weighs between 232 grams and 237 grams, depending on the color variant.

Accessories and Photography Kit

vivo also introduced a suite of optional accessories sold separately. Two ZEISS Telephoto Extenders — a 400mm equivalent (4.7x magnification) priced at Rs 27,999, and a 200mm equivalent (2.35x magnification) at Rs 15,999 — attach to the phone for extended reach. An Imaging Grip Kit, designed to replicate a camera’s physical controls and provide a supplementary 2,300 mAh battery, is priced at Rs 11,999.

A comprehensive Photography Kit bundle, which includes the X300 Ultra, both telephoto extenders, and the imaging grip, is priced at Rs 2,09,999. However, an instant discount of Rs 4,000 brings its effective price to Rs 1,95,997.

Launch Offers and Availability

Customers can access several launch promotions. Online platforms, including Flipkart and Amazon, are offering a 10 percent instant cashback on transactions made with HDFC, SBI, and Axis Bank cards. Mainline retail stores offer an equivalent cashback on SBI, Kotak, American Express, DBS, IDFC First, and Axis Bank cards.

Both online and offline channels provide 24-month no-cost EMI options, with monthly payments starting at approximately Rs 6,667 for the device alone. A one-year extended warranty is included at no additional cost.

vivo has partnered with Reliance Jio to offer 5,000 GB of cloud storage for 18 months alongside Google Gemini Pro benefits. A V-Shield screen damage protection plan starts at Rs 2,499, with discounts of up to 60 percent available during the launch period. An assured buyback program, offering up to 60 percent of the device’s value, is priced at Rs 1,599.
