Volkswagen seems to be on a roll. The company is all set to unveil the updated Volkswagen Taigun on April 9. Right before updated Taigun unveil, however, we have come across a spotting of the upcoming VW Virtus as well. Yes, alongside the popular compact SUV, Volkswagen is also planning an update of the popular sedan that has been much loved by Indians. This will be the first mid-cycle update for the VW Virtus after the car was first launched in India back in 2022.
The teaser images and videos showcase a similar silhouette and shape of the new Virtus, but the design details will see an update. The grille, according to the spy shots seemed a bit sleeker and we can spot an updated LED headlamp design as well. Just like the new VW Taigun, the Volkswagen Virtus is also expected to come with connected headlamps and an illuminated VW logo. The side profile also looks unchanged as compared to the outgoing model.

On the inside also the changes are expected to be minimal. Largely, we will see updated upholstery and some added creature comfort features to make the Virtus more relevant, in-line with what the customers are looking for in newer cars. We expect to see the addition of ventilated seats, electric seats for both the driver and passenger, improved safety features, ADAS capabilities, and more.
Coming to the engine and powertrain, not a lot of changes are expected here as well. We will most likely continue to get the same 1.0 litre 3-cylinder and the 1.5 litre 4-cylinder TSI engines as the outgoing model. The change, however, could be in the transmissions, where the new VW Virtus may be launched with the new 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission that Skoda has introduced with the new Skoda Kushaq.

So yes, as Volkswagen prepares for the launch of its upcoming Taigun, the brand’s plans for updating the VW Virtus have also been leaked. We expect the Volkswagen Virtus update to follow on behind the update of the Skoda Slavia, similar to how VW launched the Taigun soon after the launch of the Skoda Kushaq.
