The Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is working on adding new features to its Android app. Over the last few days, WABetaInfo has spotted two features in development. While both are currently under development, they are available to a small group of beta testers. That said, here’s everything you should know about the upcoming WhatsApp features for Android.

Share Music Audio During Video Calls

According to a report published on January 6, 2024, WhatsApp is working on a feature enabling users to play and share their audio with others on a video call. Available on the latest business version of WhatsApp beta for Android, the feature allows users to listen to “video and music audio together.” When someone on a video call shares their screen, the audio they play on their device will also be available to other users.

The publication also highlights that this feature is available in one-to-one video calls and delivers a synchronized audio experience. Further, there’s a chance that the feature could roll out to regular users on Android as it is also available to testers of WhatsApp Messenger beta. The shared music feature allows users to “enjoy content simultaneously, regardless of their physical location,” making up for a great movie or video streaming platform.

Per another report published on January 8, 2024, WhatsApp is working on enabling businesses to subscribe to Meta Verified directly through the app. As seen in the screenshot shared by the publication, a new setting is available within the app that allows businesses to subscribe to Meta Verified, which will replace WhatsApp Premium.

Businesses that subscribe should see the verified badge in their profile across the app, along with additional features for boosting the reach, making it easier for customers to find and connect with them. However, the subscription is currently under development and should be available to all business users as part of a regular update pushed via the Play Store.
