Ever since WhatsApp introduced the HD media feature for photos and videos, sharing high-resolution content has become really convenient. However, selecting HD every time you send media can be cumbersome. Fortunately, WhatsApp is now making HD the default option.

Previously, you had to manually switch to HD before tapping Send. With the new default HD setting, you can simply load media into WhatsApp and tap Send without any extra steps.

This feature is included in the latest WhatsApp update, first spotted by ArtemR on X. Here’s how to enable it:

1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

2. Tap on Storage and Data.

3. Tap on Media upload quality and select HD quality.

Once enabled, you will be able to send photos and videos in high resolution by default. While HD quality isn’t as good as an uncompressed file (which you would send as a document), it retains enough detail for use on social media and other platforms.

If you have not seen the feature yet, don’t worry. Be patient, as the update is rolling out in phases. Your turn might be the next. Anyway, do you like this new change? Let us know in the comments below.
