The Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp is working on an AI chatbot, and it looks like the tool is about ready, as popular WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo recently spotted the chatbot in a beta update rolled out to testers. WhatsApp first announced its plans for the AI chatbot during Meta Connect 2023, held in September.

Here’s How The Meta AI Button Will Look Like On WhatsApp

WhatsApp’s Meta AI Button On WABetaInfo

Per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.23.24.26 is marked compatible. This particular version, which is available on the Google Play Store (for limited users), contains a dedicated AI assistant button over the new chats button. WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of the same, where the button is shown as a colorful circle outline.

Previously, the WhatsApp AI chatbot came out in a beta version rolled out in September, but it was hidden in the contacts section, making it difficult for users to find it and initiate a conversation. However, the new update adds a button in the app’s home screen, making the assistant much more accessible than it was.

What The Action Button Could Do

Meta Connect 2023

Tapping on the square button with a colorful ring, users will be able to chat with Meta AI, Meta’s in-house AI chatbot, where users can ask their queries about anything, including complex scientific concepts, a riddle, and other topics of discussion. This is the same AI technology that powers the recently launched Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

In the near future, Meta should launch its AI chatbot for other platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook. Further, WhatsApp should also release the feature as part of its stable update for Android and iOS users.

It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp isn’t the first company to integrate an AI chatbot into its app. Popular photos and videos sharing platform Snapchat already has My AI in place. Initially, the platform provided My AI to Snapchat+ users but then rolled out the tool for everyone.
