Close on the heels of Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro (review), Xiaomi has scheduled the India launch of the Redmi Go phone on March 19. The Redmi Go, which was earlier launched in Europe, would be an ultra-affordable stock Android Go phone priced at under Rs 5000.

Xiaomi Redmi Go Highlights

The highlight of the Redmi Go would be Google’s Android Go (8.1 Oreo Edition) software. Android Go is a trimmed down version of Stock Android that’s specifically optimized for its low-end hardware. Redmi Go features an ecosystem of Go series of apps downloadable from the Play store. They are the “lite” version of Google’s popular apps meant to run on low-end devices.

Needless to say, this new Redmi phone would be quite minimalistic. Redmi Go would sport a 5-inch HD display with a 1,280 x 720 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. You could do photography with an 8MP rear camera (with LED flash) and 5MP front camera. The rear camera is coupled with an LED flash. You could grab it in varied colors like blue, red, black, and others.

Under the hood, it would be fueled by a 3000mAh battery. This could deliver sufficient juice, thanks to the optimized software and low-power hungry hardware combo. Being a low-rung device, it would come with 1GB RAM and 8GB onboard storage, expandable up to 128GB using a MicroSD card.

The device would be running on 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-core 425 chipset coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. Redmi Go would also feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, Micro-USB 2.0 port, and Dual SIM card slots too.
