Xiaomi Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, Redmi K40 Pro+ launched

Xiaomi has officially launched the awaited Redmi K40 series smartphones in China. These include Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+.

As expected, Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro Plus are powered by a Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, while the Redmi K40 gets a Snapdragon 870 5G. Other common highlights include triple camera arrays, a 20MP selfie camera, a 120Hz display, and a 4520mAh battery with a 33W fast charger.

Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, Redmi K40 Pro+ Features

The three mobile phones of the Redmi K40 series ship with a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with a tiny punch-hole which Xiaomi claims to be the smallest selfie camera cutout. The front camera has a 20MP shooter. The display properties include a refresh rate of 120Hz, a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a peak brightness of 1300nits. 

For the processing unit, Redmi K40 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G-enabled SoC coupled with Adreno 650 GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. On the other hand, Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro+ come with Snapdragon 888 5G processor assisted with Adreno 660 GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage capacity. The phones run on MIUI 12 skin based on Android 11

Heading towards optics, the Redmi K40 boasts a triple camera setup comprising a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP macro sensor. The three cameras of the Redmi K40 Pro include a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro sensor. While the Redmi K40 Pro+ packs a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor for the main camera with remaining sensors similar to K40 Pro. 

Under the hood, the three devices of the Redmi K40 series draw power from a 4520 mAh battery supporting 30W fast charging. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is installed in the phones and there’s also face unlock.

Redmi K40 Series Prices & Availability

Redmi K40 comes at a starting price of CNY 1,999 (around INR 22,400). The manufacturer has set the price of Redmi K40 Pro starting at CNY 2,799 (approx Rs 31,500) while the sole variant (12GB+256GB) of Redmi K40 Pro+ is priced at CNY 3,699 (approx Rs 41,600). The devices are available for pre-order and will go on sale from March 4 in China.
