WhatsApp has released a couple of new features in the last few days. First, the platform revealed the pin messages feature for individual and group chats. Then, users can check the health of their connection during a video call. Last but not least, WhatsApp users can now send voice notes as “view once” messages. Here’s everything you need to know about the new features.

Pin Important Messages In Chats

The latest WhatsApp features allow users to pin messages in individual or group chats. A similar feature exists on Telegram, iMessage, and even Slack, for that matter. Nonetheless, WhatsApp users can now pin texts, polls, images, and even emojis so they are always visible at the top of the chat.

To pin a chat, users should tap and hold on to a chat and then select “Pin” from the available options. Android users should choose the option from the three-dot menu on the top right of the screen, while iOS users should tap “More” and then select the option.

Users get three options while pinning the chats: 24 hours, seven days (the default option), and 30 days. The feature is handy; for instance, one can pin details about a professional project, the address, shopping list, etc. In groups, admins can decide whether just admins or anyone can pin messages.

WhatsApp’s iOS changelog also mentions a feature that lets users check their network strength during a video call. This will help users determine if their connection isn’t providing enough bandwidth to support a seamless video call, in which case, users can switch networks or enable cellular data. A couple of days ago, WhatsApp also released a view once setting for voice notes.
