After last year’s ban of PUBG, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has also been banned by the Indian government. The game got banned in India under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. While the fans already lost all their hopes, the latest reports have a different story to tell. Game developer Krafton has acknowledged the BGMI ban in India. Now, it is being said that they are planning to cooperate with the government authorities to bring the game back to India.

Krafton CEO Bae Dong-Geun said that in the second quarter, the franchise expanded the user base through its own and offline collaborations in the local market and it also broadened monetized content offerings. Another report suggested that Skyesports CEO Shiva Nandy mentioned that the ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India is not going to last forever. In the times when TikTok is also tightening its belt to make a comeback in the Indian market, BGMI’s relaunch seems like a confirmed thing.

Why was BGMI banned in India in the first place?

Now, this is a serious question and its answer is deep-rooted with the Chinese connection of PUBG Mobile’s successor in India. Until now, the Indian government has not exactly clarified the reason behind the ban on BGMI. However, the section under which it got booked suggested that the app poses threat to national security. It has also been witnessed in the beginning that Battlegrounds Mobile India shared the data with the Chinese servers which is the same reason why the government kicked out PUBG Mobile from the Indian battle royale market.

Is it going to impact the players?

As of now, BGMI has been removed from both Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Nevertheless, the users who already had the application can play the game without any issues. Apart from that, a few of them mentioned that they faced server issues while trying to play the game. The case is different only when you have not installed the game already on your device as it is not available on legit app stores. Still, you can install the BGMI APK from a different source to enjoy the game in India.
