The long wait for the new Toyota HyRyder has finally over as the auto giant has announced the compact SUV in India. The 2022 Urban Cruiser HyRyder comes with a first-of-its-kind All-Wheel Drive (AWD) feature.
The all-new HyRyder has been developed jointly by Toyota and Maruti Suzuki at the former’s Bidadi, Karnataka plant. The new Toyota SUV will rival likes including Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and MG Astor.
2022 Toyota HyRyder Features
The new Toyota HyRyder sports an appearance bigger than the Creta with a modern design language. It features a beefy bonnet, a muscular design bumper, a crystal acrylic front grille, and a trapezoidal lower grille. The LED DRLs meet with each other via a thin chrome strip. The headlights come integrated with projector LED lights and are placed on the bumper.
The rear end has slim C-shaped tail-lights all across the tailgate connected with a chrome strip. The new HyRyder will run on 17-inch alloy wheels and the wheel arch has thin black body cladding.

The interior of the Toyota HyRyder gets a dual-tone finish on the dashboard and seats like the new Jeep Meridian. It sports a 9-inch infotainment system, a head-up display, powered front seats, ambient lighting, and a 360-degree parking camera. It has a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging dock, and ventilated front seats. It offers remote ignition on/off and AC controls. For connectivity, it supports Toyota iConnect for smart features.
The safety features include six airbags, advanced body structure, vehicle stability control, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold, and hill descend features.
HyRyder now becomes with first midsize SUV to offer a robust hybrid technology. It is powered by a 1.5L Atkinson TNGA engine with a self-charging hybrid system producing 92bhp and 122Nm torque. The equipped electric motor can generate 79hp and 141Nm of torque while the hybrid combo can churn 115bhp of power.

For the electric performance, it packs a 177.6V lithium battery set which is claimed to go up to 25km in electric-only mode. The fuel engine efficiency of the HyRyder is 24-25kmpl.
2022 Toyota HyRyder Price and Availability
Toyota has not announced the pricing of the new 2022 Urban Cruiser HyRyder in the country which will be due the next month. While it has commenced the booking of the new SUV at a token amount of Rs 25,000. It will be available in seven single-colour shades and four dual-tone options.
