TL;DR

  • According to the renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is working on the next-generation AirPods Pro.
  • First of all, he mentioned how the third generation of AirPods Pro could come with a temperature sensor, which is an indicator of the body’s condition.
  • There could be some technological limitations, such as the space available on the earbuds and the number of sensors that could fit inside.

The last time Apple released a new pair of AirPods Pro was in 2022 – the AirPods Pro 2. Even though the product came out more than two years ago, it is still among the best wireless earbuds in the market. This is why there’s a lot of anticipation about the device’s successor, the AirPods Pro 3. Here’s the latest buzz about the upcoming device.

AirPods Pro 3 To Offer Exceptional Health Tracking Functionality

According to the renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is working on the next-generation AirPods Pro. While the device should offer exceptional sound quality and noise cancelation, Gurman talks mainly about the health tracking feature that the device could offer.

First of all, he mentioned how the third generation of AirPods Pro could come with a temperature sensor, which is an indicator of the body’s condition. Further, the device could come with a heart-rate monitor, which will help monitor the users’ heart rate. Whether or not the device will be able to track ECG is something else.

AirPods Pro 3’s Heart Rate Sensors Aren’t As Accurate As Those On The Apple Watch

The journalist states that the heart rate monitor on the AirPods isn’t as accurate as that on the Apple Watch, but it isn’t off by a huge margin. However, after observing the company for over a couple of hours, we are sure that Apple won’t release the product until they believe everything is up to the mark.

Maybe Apple could come up with an interesting solution where the AirPods and the Apple Watch measure a user’s heart rate in tandem, i.e., the AirPods could leverage the smartwatch’s advanced sensors or perhaps contribute toward the readings in a supporting role.

Will The Device Last As Long With As Many Sensors On Board?

There could be some technological limitations, such as the space available on the earbuds and the number of sensors that could fit inside. Further, we are concerned about whether the sensors will drain the earbuds’ battery too fast.

Moreover, the AirPods Pro 3 could also feature a slew of “physiological measures.” This is the extent of information that Gurman shared through his Power On newsletter. However, in the recent past, we’ve also heard about how users would have to wear both earbuds for the heart rate feature to function.

Further, there have been rumors about how the earbuds could feature cameras and advanced AI features. However, what Apple has for us in store, with the next-generation AirPods and other upcoming products, never fails to excite us.
