At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, the California-based graphics card manufacturer AMD teased the RX 9070 series GPUs. Now, the company’s executive has revealed the launch timeline for the GPUs.

AMD RX 9070 Series Will Be Based On RDNA 4 Architecture

The AMD RX 9070 and the RX 9070 XT graphics cards will feature next-generation RDNA 4 architecture (based on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication technology).

Further, the graphics processors are said to offer second-generation AI accelerators, a second-generation radiance display engine, along with third-generation ray tracing accelerators. With these features, the RX 9070 graphics cards will take the baton from the RX 7900 XT and RX 7800 XT.

AIB-Partner Graphics Cards Reveal Some Specifications

Although the company didn’t reveal the specifications of the GPUs, AMD’s board partners showcased some AIR-partner cards featuring triple-fan cooling systems and a triple 8-pin power-connected design.

RX 9090 vs. RX 9070 XT: Leaked Specifications

We’ve also heard of some rumors suggesting that the baseline RX 9070 will offer 3,584 cores, 56 compute units, and 16GB VRAM. On the other hand, the RX 9070 XT could come with 4,096 cores, 64 computer units, and 16GB of VRAM. Both the GPUs may feature GDDR6 memory and run on a 256-bit interface.

AMD RX 9070 To Debut In March 2025

With regards to competition, the RX 9070 series will compete with Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards, which will go official in February 2025. Coming to the AMD Radeon RX 9070 series’ launch timeline, the company has confirmed that the graphics cards will go official in March 2025. However, we don’t have a launch date yet.

Recent reports suggest that global retailers have already received the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT stocks. Further, the GPUs have already been circulated among critics and reviewers. However, this raises more questions than it answers. It is speculated that AMD delayed the launch of its RX 9070 series GPUs to launch them as an answer to the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards.
