New India-Specific Features

Multi-lingual support for Siri

Apple has rolled out more Indian language support for Siri. This includes Siri’s ability to interact in Hindi as well. India is a diverse country with 100s of languages being spoken, and slowly Apple is increasing the number of languages iOS keyboard and Siri will support.

Now, Siri will talk back to you in Hindi, which is better than before when Siri was able to understand Hinglish but not converse in it. Support for eight languages has also been added. These are English with Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, and Malayalam. Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu. Indians can now give commands to Siri in these languages and get responses in the same language.

Translate App

A translation application has been added with support for Hindi. The capability can be used on system-wide apps including Safari via Siri.

Voicemail transcriptions

Live voicemails or audio recordings can be transcripted and will be able to understand Indian English accents now.

Languages supported are English, Gujarati, Bangla, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Punjabi. The keyboard will support enhanced language search and an alphabetical keyboard layout for eleven languages.

Improved Connectivity & Communication

iOS 18 comes with support for dual SIM control via the control center. Users will now be able to switch between SIM cards quickly and easily. iPhone users in the country will be able to access these features with the launch of iOS 18 very soon.
