A hot moment after the Let Loose event on May 7, where we witnessed the new iPad Air and iPad Pro models, Apple has slashed the prices for the regular iPad (10th Generation) in India. In what looks like a move to differentiate the M2 iPad Air from the regular iPad (based on pricing), the iPad (10th Generation) is now available for Rs. 10,000 less than what Apple launched it for.

Let’s Understand How The Pricing Works

M2 iPad Air vs A14 Bionic iPad (10th Generation)

In 2022, Apple gave the regular iPad a more contemporary look, inspired by the design of the iPad Air series. Hence, if not for different colors, the iPad (10th Generation) looks the same as the iPad Air (5th Generation) and, by extension, the iPad Air (6th Generation). This could create a problem with the latest model’s sales, primarily because looks are among most customers’ critical, decisive factors (unless one knows about the differences in A14 Bionic, M1, and M2 chips).

Imagine standing at a retail store where the executive shows you three models that look similar. Even if you know about the device’s technical specifications, wouldn’t you think of buying the older device, especially if there isn’t a huge price difference? This is where discounting comes in.

  • Per the old pricing, the 256GB variant of the iPad (10th Generation) started at Rs. 59,900.
  • At the same time, the iPad Air (6th Generation) costs Rs. 69,900 for the model with similar storage.

Due to a relatively smaller gap, someone who goes to a store to purchase the iPad Air (6th Generation) might come home with the iPad (10th Generation), basing the argument on the device’s looks. However, the new pricing reduces the gap to Rs. 20,000, which will make the customers think about the features or perks they’re missing out on.

Is the iPad (10th Generation) Worth The Money In 2024?

The short answer is – yes. Apple products are slightly more expensive than the competition, but there’s one thing you can be absolutely sure about – their longevity. Even if you purchase the iPad (10th Generation) in 2024, it should receive software updates for another three to four years, letting you get the most of your money.
