Apple has released the press invites for its big iPhone event titled, ‘Hi, Speed’. It will be an online event broadcasted through apple.com and the company’s Youtube channel on October 13 at 10.30 pm IST. In this, you can expect the announcement of multiple iPhone models and some accessories.

Here’s what we know so far —

Apple iPhone 12 series: Rumor roundup

This time around, the rumors suggest four models:
• A new 5.4-inch model, that could be called iPhone 12 Mini
• A low-end 6.1-inch sequel to the iPhone 11 with low-end specs as the 5.4-inch variant. This will likely be the standard iPhone 12.
• Another 6.1-inch iPhone with high-end specs, and could be called iPhone 12 Pro.
• A bigger 6.7-inch edition which would be the top-end iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The new iPhones are said to sport squared-off edges and flat screens, like the recent iPads or iPhone 4 from back in the day. There’ll be no 120Hz display though, claims lead Apple analyst Mr. Ming Chi Kuo.

He also said earlier this year, that the upcoming iPhones will finally support mmWave 5G. However, some other reports portend only the top-level model will get the faster mmWave while the rest of the iPhones will stick to sub-6 GHz.

Among other things, you could also look out for A14 Bionic and OLED panel throughout the lineup, as well as LIDAR sensor (for advanced AR applications) on the two higher-end variants.

Also, the new iPhone boxes will probably be smaller since there will be no earphones and charger inside. The justification would be to ‘reduce e-waste’. This is going to annoy several buyers, especially those who are first-timers and don’t have an iPhone adapter lying around in their home. For what its worth, there’s a chance that a Lightning to USB-C converter will be supplied in the box. Meanwhile, there have been leaks of the 20W charger that would be sold separately.
