Apple has tight rein over its manufacturing and marketing departments. Yet, leaks and rumors do manage to slip out. Incidentally, we have a fair amount of details about the upcoming iPhone 12 series.

To begin with, you could look forward to four iPhones out of the 12 series. As you may have already gathered from the title, the iPhone 12 Pro is likely to ship with a smaller notched display capable of 120Hz refresh rate, 5G, A14 Bionic chipset based on 5nm node.

Those details in itself should be dopamine inducing. Nonetheless, let’s get down to everything we have on the forthcoming iPhones.

The first render prototypes that emerged back in December 2019 revealed the screen sizes to be 5.3-inches on iPhone 12, 5.4-inches on 12 Pro, and 6.7-inch panel on Pro max. A recent leak from the Twitter handle @L0vetodream corroborates this and other specifics. His revelation tells us the panel will feature a 120Hz refresh rate.

Going further, we learn about the 5nm architecture based A14 Bionic chipset and 5G support. It’s said that the A14 will have the dedicated horsepower for AI and AR tasks.

Now @L0vetodream evinces the USB-C port instead of Lightning on the 12s.

But, this claim is refuted by another reputed source, who goes by the name Jon Prosser. Not just that, Mr. Prosser also squashes some other rumors like a smart connector for charging and Apple Pencil.

Courtesy of Prosser, we also got to see the alleged schematics of a smaller notch on the next iPhone.

Camera-wise, the Pro models are likely to feature quad cameras, with one of them being a LiDAR sensor for AR capabilities.

Apple is also rumored to be working on two Airpower wireless charging mats codenamed C68 (bigger one) and C26. These are said to be powered by A11 chip.

Among other things, there is chatter about puck-shaped Airtags (Apple’s take on Tile Bluetooth trackers). These would be backed by a 3V CR 2032 battery and compact system-in-chip,

Due to the Covid-19 setback, Apple’s supply chain is expected to suffer some slowdown. Although the launch stage might be set in the month of September, like yesteryears. But, the actual availability might see some delays. The sub-6 GHz 5G iPhones might arrive in 2020, whilst mmWave variants in 2021. It’s all still hearsay for now and things might change down the line. So, needless to say, take it all with a dash of salt.
