TL; DR
- Apple has not officially confirmed the iPhone 17 launch date, but patterns from past events strongly point to September 9, 2025, at 10:30 PM IST.
- The announcement for the event itself will likely come around August 26.
- Expect four models in the lineup, with prices in India starting near ₹79,900.
Apple hasn’t yet sent out invites for its next big keynote, but if there’s one thing history tells us, it’s that Cupertino loves its patterns. Over the past decade, new iPhones have almost always debuted in the first half of September, usually on a Tuesday. In 2024, the iPhone 16 series was unveiled on Monday, September 9, with the event announced exactly 14 days earlier on August 26.
The iPhone 15 launch in 2023 followed the same two-week gap between announcement and event, landing on Tuesday, September 12. Going further back, the iPhone 14 event in 2022 was on Wednesday, September 7, also after a two-week notice.

Looking at this timeline, a clear rhythm emerges: Apple tends to pick a date in the second week of September, keeps the weekday consistent, and rarely strays from the two-week announcement lead. The only exceptions were in 2020 and 2021, when the pandemic disrupted production schedules and forced later reveals.

If we apply this consistent formula to 2025, the most probable event date is Tuesday, September 9, with the invite going out on Tuesday, August 26. For Indian viewers, that translates to a 10:30 PM IST livestream start, a timing Apple has stuck to for years.
If the event does land on September 9, pre-orders are almost certain to begin on Friday, September 12, with the first batch of devices reaching customers on Friday, September 19.

What Can We Expect At the Event?

The iPhone 17 family is expected to consist of four models: the standard iPhone 17, the all-new ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air replacing the Plus, and the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max variants. The Pro Max could see the most ambitious upgrades, including a new telephoto camera with up to 8X optical zoom, a vapor chamber cooling system, and a 5,000 mAh battery.

Indian pricing is projected to start at around ₹79,900 for the iPhone 17, with the Pro landing near ₹1,45,990 and the Pro Max potentially touching ₹1,64,990. While these are early estimates, they follow Apple’s usual upward pricing trend in the region.
If Apple’s past is any guide, invites should drop later this month, giving fans just enough time to clear their schedules for what could be the company’s most significant iPhone refresh in years.
